I thought so. The whole "stoned out of your gourd" comment is why I asked. I haven't smoked in 5 years, but casual use is not mind altering. To me it's like taking a really effective muscle relaxer. It just takes the edge off and causes me to feel relaxed. As someone said earlier, you'd have a real hard time telling I'd been smoking if you were around me.

In my experience, I'd much rather surround myself with smokers than drinkers.

Aflatoxin from mushrooms can have life-threatening muscarinic effects and ephedra from ma huang can cause CNS and cardiac issues resulting in death. Those are two examples off the top of my head because I'm too lazy to look it up.
