Pioli had to start somewhere. Unfortunately, he decided it didn't have to start on the offensive line, the foundation of a good football team. A good offensive line would ahve done wonders for Cassel in his development.

I don't fault them for bringing in their QB. Pioli saw Cassel as his long term man, even over those they had the potential of drafting. With that as the case, you pull the trigger regardless of whatever else you have in place.
Now should they have focused on OL above DL this year? One could make a damn good argument for it, but they chose the path they chose. If, 3 years from now, the OL's been fixed, Cassel is still in one piece and playing well, and Jackson and Magee are important pieces of a solid 3-4 line, nearly everything in this thread will be moot and forgotten.
On the other hand, if the OL's still in tatters, Cassel's been broken in half, and our DL picks are more like Ryan Sims, Junior Siavii, and Eric Downing then Haley most likely will be gone, and Pioli will have shown to be a major fraud.
They've made their bed for the year, we all know it's going to be a multi-year process... might as well sit back, enjoy the ride, and be glad we're not the detroit lio...crap, never mind on that last one...
