but I think it's pretty funny about Denver fans...

That team is a train wreck...absolute mess...I feel as if they could legitimately win 1 game next year...wouldn't surprise me.

They are TRULY bad.

Even though Campbell isn't that great Oakland will be playing offense with 11 players now instead of 10 like past 3 years.

Hey Summer'sEve, how many games will the Raiders win this year?

Underestimating Brandon Lloyd? How could one underestimate someone who is shit?

You gotta love this time of year ... wild bickering between fans of teams that have done nothing in recent years and both have huge hills to climb to get better.

Bottom line - SD still has the most proven talent in the division. That being said, winning the AFCW is fine - but it is not as difficult as it has been in previous decades. The division as a whole has been terribly down, but injuries aside ... I do think that the other 3 have been making strong moves to improve.

Denver had another makeover (trading players, older FAs, new DC) and now with injuries to key players ... they're road is more difficult now.

Orton, Campbell and Cassel are essentially the same guys right now. I think they're all in that middle range of QB. If the right weapons are around them, they'll do fine - but neither of them is an elite player that puts a team on his back when all else fails. You just hope they don't make bonehead plays that cost your team a W in a tight game.

WRs - another group that is pretty equal in my opinion. Bowe is likely the more proven name at this point, but that's really not saying much. I like Denver's depth at that position more than the others, but again... it remains to be seen what any of the WR groups can do, but I think they're each pretty solid. I'm interested to see what the young WRs in OAK do now with a legit QB.

RBs - no doubt that KC has the most proven duo in the division right now. I would rank SD next, followed by Denver and Oakland in a dead heat. Bush/McFadden get the nod with the injuries to Moreno and Buckhalter, but we'll see what happens when the season starts.

OL - if Clady can return quickly, he's the key to making this group (potentially) the best in the division. I don't know enough really about the other guys on the other 3 teams, but I think each of the 4 teams has concerns, neither has an elite OL right now.

Defense - the biggest crapshoot of them all... the loss of Doom really stings for Denver because he was the rock of stability with all the change and now he's gone. I don't think Denver is void of talent though, but they've done nothing consistently good for several years, so the jury is still out. I think things are pretty even defensively within the division.

Honestly, I think it's all a bit pointless at this time to get too caught up with projected finishes for the AFCW teams. But, it's a message board, we're all diehard fans, so it's cool.

SD is the team to beat, even with the issues they have... and I think it's going to be asking a lot for either of the other 3 teams to hit 9 wins. Could 1 or 2 get there - maybe, but this division is still 1-2 years away from being considered a strong division.

Ok - you can get back to kicking KnowMo in the nuts...

For the most part I agree. SD is the early favorite but if they falter at all anyone could win the division.

Mostly because this year it's a sucky division. Again.

Sure... and I think SD (right now) is the only team that could expect to win a playoff game, especially on the road.

Hate to say it man, and I'm sure you know, but losing Elvis for possibly the entire season just wrecked your team bad. I think the Broncos had a decent chance winning the west, but not anymore.

There's no doubt that it's a big loss, but it remains to be seen if they fall to the bottom of the league. I mean, I did read quite a bit around here about how he was a bit over-rated and not worth the cash they just paid him. :) So, if you all were right with those comments... it won't be as devastating, right?

B b b b b b b but he had that ONE amazing catch when he was at San Fran. That one catch means he is a potential future HOFer!

Enh, their defense pulled a 180 when the losing streak started.

They were 6-0, then lost @ Baltimore and to the Steelers - which I don't think many believed they would win. They screwed the pooch vs WAS, thanks defense and then laid an egg vs SD.

All of a sudden, 6-0 is 6-4.

They beat the Giants and then the Chiefs, 8-4 and then the defense completed their tumble. Orton and the offense were fine early on and they won when the defense was able to keep things respectable. All that went to hell for the defense in the final stretch. It wasn't Orton's fault.

There was an old sports site I used to be on before I came to ChiefsPlanet called FanIQ. Its still alive but its much different now a days.

Anyways there was this guys who was a 49ers fan who was pretty much the equivalent of KnowMo.

He was telling me how bad the Niners would beat the Chargers (this was in 2006). I told him, we have LT, Gates, Rivers, etc. He told me, "Don't forget about Arnaz Battle."

He did bold the name and he spelled it wrong. I just thought that was funny.

Yeah but who is he going to throw to? Super Marshall is gone and all Orton is left with is Royal, who is a good #2, and a rookie WR that came from an option offense.

Royal is a solid #2 and right now their without a legit and proven #1... however, they will have a lot of options and will be forced to spread it around. Gaffney has value and will have his moments, but Thomas is key here and it would be great if he's able to mature quickly in the offense. Low chance of that happening, rookies rarely make a huge impact.

The key is protecting Orton - which makes Clady's return critical. If he has time and isn't running for his life, he's smart enough and can find open guys. They won't have the Colts' passing attack, but it won't be putrid either.
