And with two runs in the first inning, they match the run total of the previous two games.

:spock:

Still can't believe they lost two games to Colorado where they only gave up two runs.

Baseball is funny sometimes. Royals and White Sox are playing home run derby this series. Pitcher duels in Denver.

DJ's left nut 09-12-2019 02:22 PM

Well now we have a conventional Coors Field game.

I think I liked the first 2 days better...

BigRedChief 09-12-2019 03:31 PM

Ravello hit the 3rd longest measured home run in MLB since statcast started.

Marcellus 09-12-2019 03:45 PM

I just want to point out Marp is 0-4, he and the pitchers are the only players without a hit so far today.

I'm sure there has to be a cliff somewhere near there they could drop him off.

Of course, he'd probably miss the ****ing ground at the bottom. :shake:

that last AB was pathetic. He looked like a rookie ball player trying to hit Scherzer.

carps “hit” should have been an out and potential double play with bases loaded. You know, his usual AB. Murphy blew that and the official scorer took pity on carp.

But at least that hit got Martinez out of there. Going to need him against the Brewers. They don’t take 2/3, they are toast.

Can’t really complain about where we are. We have a “real” chance to win the division. Play meaniful baseball the last week of the division. Catch a few breaks maybe steal the series from the Braves then get roasted by the Dodgers.

Of course not. Am I going to laugh at you for wanting to throw him off a bridge and 30 minutes later he drives in a couple of runs? Of course.

No one has been more irrational about Carpenter since 2018 than you, and it's fun to make you wear it.

Nothing irrational about my opinion of Carp, BTW that wasn't me throwing him off the bridge but I didn't disagree with it so I'll wear it.

If you are going to try to make some type of point with every Carp hater the list is very very very long. Better get crackalackin.

You were lambasting him throughout 2018 when I told you again and again that his peripherals showed it was just batted ball luck. You continued to lambaste him throughout the year, even though he put up 5 wins and had the second most valuable year of his career. You were wrong and the numbers eventually regressed to the mean.

I have been highly critical of his play this season, because it's clear from his exit velocities and Statcast numbers that he's in an obvious and precipitous decline. I hated his contract extension and immediately went on record as such because I saw it as an unnecessary risk for someone you already controlled through 2020 w/ the option of tagging on a QO to keep for 2021. It's all in this thread, too.

You can be pro-2018 Carp and anti-2019 Carp. In fact, it's the only rational stance to take.

His 2019 season was a bust. Yes he had an INSANELY hot 2-3 month streak but he then folded in September again. And we missed the playoffs by a handful of games.

I don't care what his saber metrics were overall for the season, if your numbers are smashed in the middle of 2 black holes its not a good year, period.

He helped dig the hole they were in, he helped pull them out of the hole, he then put them back in the hole. Not a good season. Period. And thats not irrational.

As I have said his whole career he is a head case.

Marcellus 09-13-2019 08:26 PM

Tommy Edmond will never have Marps career numbers or be an MVP candidate, but he is a much better player right now.

Tommy Edmond may not play in the big leagues next year.

Baseball is a cruel ass game.

George Liquor 09-14-2019 05:06 PM

Flaherty has snuck into the top 10 in era and whip - he trails Kolten wong in War on the team

Ever thought you'd see the day when Wong lead the team in WAR?

BigRedChief 09-14-2019 08:52 PM

They’d better get the win tomorrow. Losing 4/6 then you got Corbin/Scherzer/Strausberg and then on the road to Wrigley.

Jewish Rabbi 09-14-2019 10:35 PM

Flaherty would be in the Cy Young conversation this year if he could figure out Milwaukee.

George Liquor 09-15-2019 03:24 PM

Saw that

Trying to follow the game cast on my phone while I watch the Chiefs game. It's over. This team ain't winning anything.

Matrix 09-15-2019 03:29 PM

We will all look back and say this was the day we lost the division. Holy shit, we're looking like the pre C Useless By September.

'Hamas' Jenkins 09-15-2019 03:53 PM

Supposedly, Carlos had the "flu", so he was unavailable. Shildt had already used Gallegos and Miller, so he brought in Gant, who immediately shit himself by overthrowing every fastball. Webb actually got Moustakas to fly out and preserve the lead, but then Shildt went to Junior Fernandez who threw an absolute cement mixer to Braun, despite the fact that Braun could not get around on his fastball. It was one of the worst pitches of the season to one of the biggest shitbags in professional sports.

Team looks like it's headed for another September collapse.

hitting .117 for the last 17 games, about time Ozuna contributed something in the stretch run.

jd1020 09-17-2019 11:12 AM

So the Pirates are probably wishing they had traded Felipe Vazquez right about now. He's going away for a long time.

Quote:

Florida law enforcement officials say their investigation began last month after officials “obtained information that Vázquez had a reported sexual relationship with a 13-year-old female” in Florida. Authorities say the alleged victim, now 15, had gotten text messages from Vázquez saying the would meet up after baseball season.

Ozuna just struck out with the bases loaded without even being thrown a strike.

Then Corbin damn near bounces two in a row to Dejong. Put the bat on your shoulder and make him throw you a strike.

thats at least 2 runs left on the bases that 90% of the time scores. That’s how you lose games.
