The way injuries destroyed OL last season I'm not trading anyone.

And when you hit on a 6th round pick like that, like we did with Tyreek in the 5th, or even Kelce in the 3rd, its like winning the lottery man.

Jones looks like a DPOY candidate.

I feel a lot better about him giving Brown fits when he’s doing it to Thuney too.

I don't even have time to be excited for players since Chris Jones and Trey Smith are dominating so much that requires so much attention.

In years past we'd be freaking out about Marcus Kemp looking good. There is simply not enough oxygen to get that far when you've got so many guys with so much talent and potential all over the place.

Riddick knows.

The only thing that stops this team this year is injury.

That's the only thing that has ever stopped them, to be quite honest, but it would take MASSIVE injuries this year.

Man I was just thinking that.

In the pre-Mahomes years, we'd be looking desperately for hope from somewhere. That's how we got the training camp hero's like Sippio, Grigsby, etc...

That's not a thing anymore. We are a real team. Everyone is solid and no one is "bad," they're just mediocre and would be bigger role players on other teams.

Smith and Jones are stealing the shine this year, like you said, but everyone seems to be balling out.

Great point. It’s one thing for them to look great individually, but it’s still going to take time for every unit to become cohesive and reach their ceiling for this season.

There were people who did. You were not one of them that I recall, and I'm not looking to call anyone out as that's not my style. Just saying Reid has changed a lot of his old ways and notions and it's refreshing to see. If you have an immensely talented player who is clearly better than anyone else at the position, you put him in the game, especially at a position like RG.

As for your Niang comment, you are probably correct there at least to start the season, but if he just outperforms Remmers at an obvious level I won't be shocked to see him in there eventually.

All I know is going forward we have 5 immensely talented young starters on the line (assuming we keep Brown and Niang pans out) and that brings such peace of mind after what we saw in the Super Bowl.

I feel like last year he may have slipped a little, but it was understandable with Covid and the whole team getting a little complacent.

These clips I'm seeing now, holy hell. That man looks like he's on a whole different level than I have ever seen. That quickness and strength he is displaying is other worldly.

If Bolton and Gay are even solid players the defense gets much better immediately. Like way better.

Just look at how the Steelers defense was good with Shazier, collapsed without him and then got much better when they got the new replacements.

If I remember correctly, the way to attack our defense has been to get beneficial matchups on our LB's in coverage with a TE, RB, or slot WR, OR pick on a weaker CB (Ward, lately), and then go back and forth between the two all day.

If we can effectively eliminate their LB attack plan, they have no option but to default to picking on our weakest CB (which we can plan for) OR choose an even less successful option like running the ball (good luck keeping up with our offense) or throwing into Sneed/HoneyBadger/Thornhill.

Hoover 08-04-2021 01:28 PM

Chris Jones wrecking shit on the offensive line is just going to make the Oline gel quicker IMO. Is it too much to ask to see Jones go top vs Smith?

After seeing what Chris Jones did to All-Pro Thuney?

Aside from losing a couple reps to Danna, I haven’t heard any other negative reports about Brown.

As I’ve said, Brown is admittedly a guy that relies on angles and timing. He’s probably not the kind of guy that is going to look great right off the bat.

I've definitely got some reservations about the OL.

I've seen some Patriots' fans complaining about Thuney not being all that great and Brown will definitely have a learning curve coming from the Ravens offense (where Jackson rarely dropped back to pass more than 400 times) to ours (in which Mahomes will attempt 600 passes).

Why do you continue to pretend that Niang isn’t having a good camp?

You’re living in an alternate reality from everybody else.

Hedging his bets, so he can say “I told you so” if Niang struggles. He won’t eat crow if Niang is good though.

I've seen some Patriots' fans complaining about Thuney not being all that great and Brown will definitely have a learning curve coming from the Ravens offense (where Jackson rarely dropped back to pass more than 400 times) to ours (in which Mahomes will attempt 600 passes).

Patriots fans are saying Thuney isn’t that good now that he’s a Chief? Color me shocked!

Is the Super Bowl an important game? Is Aaron Donald a good DL?

https://www.theballzone.com/2019/02/...-aaron-donald/

Aaron Donald had 1 QB Hit and 0 sacks in that game.

Yea because they knew that he was going to walk…

Go watch the SB against Donald and get back to us.

KCUnited 08-04-2021 02:05 PM

Feel like Thuney is using great feet, hand, and leverage technique in that first vid against Jones, but Jones is just too dominate. Maybe could've got into his base quicker, but man, that looked like 2 studs working.

Dunerdr 08-04-2021 02:06 PM

Any BoPete Keyes reports? I know many had hopes for him last year as a developmental guy. I also realize its his first non covid offseason and this is really the start for him in many ways.

He’s on a milk carton.

RunKC 08-04-2021 02:09 PM

Joe Thuney was a huge reason why the Patriots won the Super Bowl against the Rams. His work against Aaron Donald should be film that OL from high school watch to better understand technique and leverage.
