I wouldn't listen at all.

Sure, we've had more success in the tourney but Self does have more talent on his teams so we should be better in that.

We're 3-2 against them now.

Either way they are both great coaches and you couldn't go wrong with either of them. I'd rather have Self but I think you could make an argument for Jay.

How many national titles and conference championships does Wright have?

Idiot.

He's pretty good X's and O's and can recruit a little but he's nowhere near Self's level.

I didn't agree with his point but are you one of those tools who is always getting angry at anyone who doesn't toe the line with 100% positive comments about KU?

No. But, making a claim that you could take Wright over Self is pretty ****ing stupid.

Villanova out muscled and out hustled KU overall. Even then, free throw shooting could have gotten us over the hump in the late stages. Overall a good learning experience for KU that can be a good thing.

Tough luck that Nova made the contested 3 at the end, but they're a good team. No Battle 4 Atlantis title for us, but I hope competing like this makes them better long-term.

I'd agree with this. I'm glad we caught a tough, physical team to go along with some adversity from the officials and balls not bouncing our way early. I REALLY wish we would have won the game, but IMO it is good for the young guys to see how tough they need to play. I'd rather drop games like this now, then run into this type of game in league.

I am pleased as hell with Mason. Dude is a man machine. I don't like the three attempt at the end but honestly his toughness led the drive back from 13 down. I thought Ellis had a nice game, particularly defensively. They didn't have a lot of offense down low, but he managed to play effective defense and keep his ass out of foul trouble. Embiid got in there and did some really nice things in the few minutes he's got, but he had a definite dumbass attack when he got his 4th foul. Jesus Christ he can't sell out like that in that situation, he had a legit shot at pinning that against the glass. I thought Wiggins played nice defense even though he was getting hacked to hell on offense. Hopefully he gets the message that he has to be strong with the ball.

The negatives are obvious, fouls, turnovers missed shots (Freethrows :banghead:), but the thing nobody is really talking about is defensive rebounds. Box score said they had 12 offensive rebounds. And we got out rebounded 38-28. Fuuuuuuuuuck. When we made that run, we were getting Defensive rebounds, Embiid helped that a lot until he went out.

I hate losing as much as anybody here, but like I said, these lessons are better learned early than in league or the ****ing tournament.

The officiating was pure ass, but IMO the loss was when they pressed us we gave the ****ing ball up. We keep our heads out of our asses we win by 10. Hit some freethrows (:banghead:) and we win by 15, even with the foul trouble. I hate bad officials. They make my blood boil, but to me the loss is on bad turnovers.

He can't help it that he is too stubborn or stupid to see reality.

OK, my question to you guys is how do you want the 3 point defended? What team out there really kicks ****ing ass at defending the 3?

Schematically if you sell out against the three, the dude is going to put the ball on the floor and the defender will foul him, particularly with the new rules. Teams put up threes against us because we typically have really solid interior defenders. I promise you if Withey, Aldrich, Kaun, the Morrises, are in the lane, I'm jacking up a 3 too, regardless of how well it is defended.

Fact is KU closes out on the shooter under control. If you're arguing about guards helping in the lane too much, that's one thing, but like the other guys have said, I'd much rather give up 3s than points in the lane.

I don't see any teams out there that really lock down the 3 any better than KU does. Moreover, year over year, there aren't really many teams that compare to KU's overall defense, 3 point included.

twist that shit all you want, you know what people mean

our offense struggles to shoot from the outside which allows defensive to clog the paint. To beat KU you clog the paint and shoot the 3 ... if you can do that then you have a decent chance of winning even if KU is more talented.

That is not me making stuff up, that is not me being stupid ... that's truth.

don't blame me because the truth pisses you off

That's right, and that's what I would try to do also, but it is a tough sell, that's why KU's winning percentage is so good. Like I said, I like the way we play defense, we start selling out against the 3 and I'm pretty sure our overall defense goes to **** and we start losing more games.

Sounds like it was a stinker!

I'd watch it if you have it DVR'd just understand two things, the first half is ugly and **** the refs. There were some nice individual performances in there, and there was 15 minutes or so of decent basketball.

Chief_For_Life58 11-30-2013 10:32 AM

can't win em all

texaschiefsfan 11-30-2013 10:32 AM

Damn, KU got punched in the mouth last night. That was just a soft effort all the way around. These kids are not ready for primetime. However, there's plenty of time left to toughen up before the real games begin.

DJJasonp 11-30-2013 11:06 AM

I worry about the makeup of this team, given the way refs are asked to call games this year.

Way too many big-man fouls....as teams are being coached to just drive to the basket nearly every possession and draw a foul.

Outside of affecting KU......it's just bad for the game, period.

While I agree that the game was getting a little too close to NBA style muggings, etc.....dribble/drive defending was not the problem that needed to be fixed.

There's zero argument for Jay.

None.

Pablo 11-30-2013 11:44 AM

Nova just punched us in the mouth over and over. And then we miss fts and turn the ball over. And leave shots short.

Not worried. Just gotta toughen up before conference pay. This was a good early test.
