Here is how I would rank the next class in importance of getting signed/value:
1. Hosmer
2. Moose

3. Cain
4. Esky

I personally feel like Cain and Moose are rather interchangeable. Cain has the potential to age like Torri Hunter due to his late development as a player.

Personally, if there were one player we were planning on keeping between Hosmer, Moustakas, Escobar, and Cain, I would prefer Cain.

Your best WAR years are usually between age 28 and 32. Cain will be 31/32 when he hits the market and is injury prone. Hosmer would be 28. Hosmer could potentially be a player looking at two big pay days. If you are keeping one and hypothetically they stay, Hosmer would be the one by far.

Because the team keeps surprising me, I think I have adjusted the likelihood of them staying in KC up a few notches.

Keeping Perez, Hosmer, and Moustakas together for five more years (and incorporating younger players at the positions that require major athleticism - CF and SS) doesn't seem impossible at this point.

So you're ok with letting Cain walk?

Rany articulates what a lot of Royals fans probably felt in this tweet.

Cain is a pretty easy one to let walk. Age, injury issues, and his game is based on his legs.

Prison Bitch 03-01-2016 01:01 PM

Does Rany feel bad about Outfante's deal?

His offensive production in 2015 was not leg-based.

I predict Outfante's going to be completely healed and bounce back this season. He's a proud guy. He doesn't want to go out as a giant anchor around the team's neck.

What great news... this will go over well in the clubhouse.

The Royals are built to be a dynasty. I ****ing love Dayton Moore.

Cain's entire game is built around speed and athleticism. We will have gotten his best WAR years for cheap. Thanks for the memories and let somebody else pay for his down years.

Why is Moose so important?

He's a pretty average player right now.

Not sure why people think different.

ChiefsCountry 03-01-2016 01:43 PM

Moose was 4.4 in WAR last year, second on the team. He is 27. Third isn't exactly stacked in our minor league system. He is going to be in the 2 hole again this year.
