Does that metric need recalibrated after the removal of the extreme shift though? Genuinely asking, not sure.

It's possible, though I think it's from pre-shift days.

Another thing can this team just admit that MJ Melendez is not an OFer, he's brutal out there.

Melendez has been rough in the OF. Has the tools to be good, but is not.
The Royals would have to get better in the OF and at 2B to make Garcia work well at 3B, sure. I think that's actually the easiest position to upgrade. And is the offense or the setup of the team changed at all if Witt is playing SS instead of 3B, with the lighter-hitting guy who would play SS playing 3B instead?
I want to see some combination of Witt-Garcia-Loftin at 3B, SS, and 2B next year. I don't really care what that combination is.
In the OF, I'd look for a FA or trade acquisition to move things forward.
Cody Bellinger seems to have fixed the things wrong with him. That's someone I'd pursue in FA as a potential CF option that adds lefty power to the lineup. We'll see what Waters can be over the rest of the year, though the slow start isn't great.
I kind of look at corner OF as the easiest spot to find solutions at in baseball.
