Personally, if there were one player we were planning on keeping between Hosmer, Moustakas, Escobar, and Cain, I would prefer Cain.

Of those four, Cain is the oldest. Hosmer is the youngest. If I could only have one, it'd be Hosmer. If I had to let one go, it would be Escobar.

I really like Hunter Dozier who's at AA right now.

Why? He is 24 and sucking ass in AA. I think Cuthbert is next in line.

Duncan would know better than I, but I believe Dozier's ceiling is higher than Cuthbert. I don't believe the Royals see Cuthbert as a replacement for Moose but Dozier might be.

Albert Pujols disagrees.

Cuthbert has shown potential imo

Would like for them to really push him this year and see what happens

He always was an asshole

I thought Cuthbert looked like he belonged last year. I know they've played around with him in the OF but I don't think anything's come of it. It's too bad because it'd be nice to have his bat in the lineup. It's a good situation to be in. Between him and Dozier, they have options. And you'd generally think Moose would be easier to sign than Hosmer. I think they'll legitimately try to re-sign both though. At least by then most of their contact will be covered by the new TV deal.

Dozier has looked way too stiff when I've watched him play. He needs to lay off the juice.

I wonder if Dayton is going to reach out to any of those guys for a long term deal now that Salvy is done. I assume they at least try.

What about keeping Cyborg after 2017? Does everyone think he's just going to fall off the table, or be too expensive? Rivera was able to keep his cutter magic going for a long long time.

I am not sure that is the best example. Hosmer is a great player but has nowhere close to the production of Pujols. The Cards already gave him a 100 million contract and then offered him a great deal before he went to the Angels.

Here is a quick wrap up.

Three teams were reported to be interested in Pujols during the offseason: the Cardinals, the Miami Marlins, and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Cardinals offered Pujols a 10-year, $210 million deal (with $30 million deferred), but Pujols rejected it. His wife explained on a radio talk show that they were "insulted" and "confused" that the Cardinals had initially offered Pujols a five-year deal.[149] The Marlins reportedly offered Pujols a 10-year contract too, but on December 8 he signed a 10-year deal with the Angels worth around $254 million.[150][151][152] The contract offered by the Marlins was reportedly around the value as that offered by the Angels. However, the Marlins (who have a history of fire sales) refused to include a no trade clause in the contract.

I don't think Hosmer would be "insulted" by 210 million bucks- but I guess if some team throws that kind of crazy money at him, he would have to take it.

In hindsight-the Cards really dodged an albatross of a contract.

Does anyone other than Bro Harper get a 10-year-deal ever again?

I have a feeling Wade's cutter would age pretty well. K-Rod, Madson and O'Day are recent examples of bullpen guys maintaining their effectiveness into their 30's.

Trout maybe? The Angels are pretty dumb with contracts.

Today was an amazing day in Royals history. There are fans who are unhappy because the Royals are spending too much money.

Not really, but I never thought I'd see the day where people would question a signing like Salvy's.
