Okay. So folks like Schefter and Rapaport just inexplicably have no inkling of what is going on in the trade market for Earl Thomas.

Nobody knew what was going on with Mack until like 2 days before he was traded. And as far as we know, the Bears were the only suitor.

Ian Rapaport

With less than 24 hrs to go before the cut-down day deadline, the trade market for #Raiders star pass-rusher Khalil Mack is robust, I’m told. There are enough teams interested where the chances of Mack being traded is very real. Oakland is gauging and listening. Tune in tomorrow.

Once it was established that the Raiders were actually going to trade Mack, it sparked a frenzy. The Seahawks and Cowboys were working out a deal until the Seahawks decided a 2nd wasn't good enough. Sounds like a market would've developed from there if teams were interested but it didn't.

Theres clearly some deep state, spy vs spy skullduggery afoot on both sides

Pretty sure this is gonna happen, but its gonna be like pulling teeth

The Chiefs should trade for Earl Thomas imho

BossChief 09-29-2018 05:52 PM

If we have negotiated contract details with Earls agent, the trade compensation is already worked out with Seattle for them to approve KC talking to Earls agent...otherwise it’s tampering.

I’ll bet anything the hang up is that Earl wants the highest safety contract ever and after the situation with Berry, I doubt they are willing to go down that road again. Especially with the league sending the message that safeties aren’t worth that much.

Here’s the rub...

With Earls age, you can’t really give him much more than a 3 year deal and he might sit out that third year...so is he essentially worth highest safety contract ever and really for only 2 years?

I’d still pull the trigger, but that’s a significant amount of concern for a guy that will cost a first and a big contract...when this upcoming draft class has a few elite pass rushers we might be able to package a 1+2 to move up for.

Oh, I believe it can happen. Having to give up a 1st plus and give him a contract making him the highest paid safety in the league gets it done now. Is that worth it? Not to me.

Have you heard of Seth Keysor who writes for the Athletic? - he's much more knowledgeable than most on here - Please watch this - See the 'big picture' - use the online cap calculator he mentions. PLEASE! You need to re-train what you've always known to be correct. This is a new methodology in the league - Please - watch - for me!

Doesn't sound any different than all the crap we've heard about Thomas. :hmmm:

Not too uncommon.

I'm not confident this staff can even identify an elite pass rusher. They thought Speaks was a pass rusher. The only way they draft one is if one literally drops into their lap.

Only thing I've heard is the Chiefs or the Cowboys. If that's your definition of robust then sure.
