Aroldis Chapman 30 game suspension, not going to appeal.

I miss him.

ROFL what a ****ing douche that guy is. |
Gonna have to unfollow McCullough. I can't sit through 100 Yasiel Puig updates just for the occasional twitter feud with Mellinger.

Potentially. If his bat stays at 2015 levels, and he adds a smudge more power, he could be a plus RF well into his mid-30s like Hunter was. Just depends on how the bar holds up. He's going to lose some IF hits as he ages, but if he's hitting 20 HR and 35 2b, he plays just fine there. |
Letting Cain go has gotta be one of the dumbest thoughts on the planet. He was team MVP and a BIG BIG part of our success.

Not limited to the planet. Cain's value is heavily tied to his legs. He had a ton of IF hits in 2014 and 2015, which contributed to his BA. His defense is heavily reliant on his speed and range. Those are all things that are unlikely to age well as he hits his mid-30s. If he becomes merely a good RF rather than an elite (top 3-5) Cf defensively, and his BA drops 15-20 points with fewer leg hits, he will need to continue to be the type of power hitter he was in 2015. If he puts up another .300/15-20 HR/.350 OBP/.475 SLG season, ok. Extending him makes a lot more sense. Otherwise, In extending him, you're risking having the next Carl Crawford on your payroll. Clifs: you have to be cautious about the commitments to you make to speed guys as they enter their 30s. |
I love me some LoCain but it's absolutely right to be very cautious with an aging outfielder who's value on both sides relates to his legs.

There's always risk, but it's not like catchers always fall off a cliff either. Molina's best seasons were in that 29-30 range. Perez is only 25 years old. They just signed a 25 year old multiple Gold Glove catcher to a a 6 year deal that is $30 million less than what guys like McCann and Martin got. I get they already had him under contract, and he definitely needs to rest more.... but people are talking like he's going to be a 1B at 28. He's probably the toughest guy on the team, and his value to this team will be extremely difficult to replace too. |

Yeah, a lot of Royals internet fans are being dumb about this. They're the same type of folks who keep insisting that the Royals need to trade Hosmer after this season for prospects and restock the farm rather. |

**** that noise. I don't care what the next year brings, you simply don't gut a WS caliber team. |
