I was hoping we would've made some kind of BS offer like this. Of the high profile CBs who have had rough starts to their careers, I would have preferred Jackson to Hughes.

But that's also my draft hard on I had for him talking. And Hughes is looking decent, or at the very least, he's likely somebody who's going to make the team.

Not sure how Jackson's been doing this offseason, but it's looking like Veach made the right call so far.

CEH is going to go off with this new OL, and having a full non-covid off season will also benefit him.

Kiimo 08-17-2021 01:56 PM

For sure the Covid thing on CEH will play a part.

CEH doesn't have break-away speed but he does have the ability to make instant cuts. That doesn't help much when you're getting hit immediately.

I think those cuts are going to come into play a lot more behind this line. I would also like to see him run more complex routes

We don’t need to become the most prolific running team in the NFL.

We just need teams to respect our run, especially in the red zone.

Clearly last year defenses did not have to be concerned with our run game, and it showed in the Super Bowl and all year in the red zone.

I think there’s a stronger argument that we should’ve taken Antonio Gibson at the end of round 2 after drafting like Tee Higgins or Chase Claypool at the end of the first.

Of course, then we would’ve missed out on Willie Gay unless he fell to 96 (unlikely). Which then would cost us Niang.

All in all, I’m happy with our team. You can second guess any pick. I think we need to see what CEH does behind this line before we judge too harshly.

Gibson was my draft crush last year, his skill set was absolutely perfect for us

But I’m down with Clyde, he got off to a really hot start until the O line injuries started piling up… it’s gonna be a different result this year, the line is now built around power, not finesse

Been a long time.
Feels great to be back.
A lot has happened since i was here, we got a REAL QB and won a SB.
Go Cheeeefs!

I liked him a lot in the draft process, as well…but he was inexperienced at Iowa and is a zone corner with limited coaching on differing techniques. I’m not sure our defense would be a great fit for him.

Exactly. This is why I think we keep all 4 TEs and let go of the FB. We know what we have in Kelce, we're pretty sure Bell is a good blocker with sub-standard hands, Fortson looks like he can block and catch, a Gray is a draft choice with a lot of potential. I wouldn't mind seeing a touch of Martyball in the 4th ahead by 10 or knowing you can make a 4th and 2 90% of the time without putting PMII in peril. I don't have stats, but I'd bet you see a lot more false starts/motion on passing plays in the red zone than when your job is to blast the guy across from you into next Sunday.

But see, that's not the argument here.

We had an injury today in camp. Frank Clark pulled a hammy and will undergo an MRI. I'm frustrated with this guy.

I think we agree across the board here.

Rub some gunpowder on it and get back in the game.

Maybe its time to cut bait on Dieter and keep Fortson and Burton
