I’m good with a 3rd and 5th this year and a 3rd next year.

I'd hate that compensation more than I could ever express but no amount of kicking and screaming I do can change the result now.

It’s February. Those holes are going to be addressed as best as Veach can by September. It may not be perfect, but it will be better.

Even if Veach has a home run off-season, I still have absolutely no faith in Sutton or his scheme. Once the high end talent from the 2 previous regimes started to decline/leave our defense subsequently cratered. He's shown next to no ability to actually develop talent given to him.

I still like the Berry deal. Its unfortunate what has happened health wise since.

That being said, Houston costing 20M this year is ****ing outrageous. and a midocre left tackle should not be the second highest paid player on the team. Sends a shitty message.

Yep, deal him. I never liked the contract and i don't really like him that much either. He didn't show up after getting paid for mini camps or whatever and i don't think he has any leadership ability on this team. Guy got paid and disappeared. I say dump him for a high draft pick now, take the 8 mil in savings.

You might be right. I wouldn’t be surprised either way.

If they suck again next year, he should be fired for certain.

I wouldn’t get rid of Houston unless a team really blew me away with an offer. Right now, he and Berry are the leaders of this team. They are what’s left to assume that role. Maybe Kelce to some extent but he’s more of a spark plug for the offense than a leader.

Berry and Houston together can help to smoothen out this transition defensively.

We haven’t won any quality playoff games with him, why would that make a difference?

Agreed. Wouldn’t trade Houston yet unless it’s an offer we can’t turn down.

However, I’d trade Fisher and a pick just to get someone to take him off our hands

This is a complete horseshit move barring one of two things. A. They got a complete haul for Peters, which obviously didn't happen because it would have been announced by now. The fact we still don't know the compensation screams that we got fleeced. So, B. Peters must be an absolute cancer, and the entire league thinks he's a piece of shit that while talented, can't keep his emotions in check to be reliable in any given situation.

Either way, barring him being a complete shit stain in the locker room that brings the team down, how do you let this guy go when you legitimately have 4 years of control left? 2 years pretty cheap even. Was he REALLY that bad in the locker room?

Gonna have a hard time selling me on him being so unmanageable that his production wasn't worth it. I've got an absolute piece of shit working for me right now, but he makes me so much money I wouldn't dream of letting him go. I deal with his bullshit, and cash my checks.

I love him as a player, but he got paid based on one year of production. Every other year has been average or just slightly above.

That eventually did go off while almost every other team in the NFL took him off their board just like they did when we went shopping for a bidder with only 1 team truly interested with the other 2 just kicking tires. Can you imagine the shame/humility in shopping Peters to the rest of the league with them telling you "that's why we took him off our board", NOPE NOT INTERESTED !!

No doubt it’s telling that Dorsey and Ballard didn’t want him now.

I think if you trade him this year we have more leverage. Next year is the best opt out year as its a cap it of 21 mill if we keep him or a 7 mill dead money if we walk away. This year its a 20 mil hit or 12 mil dead. Teams will know this once the chiefs say they are hearing offers for him and just wait it out. This year gives you some more time and for the Chiefs its either way. A. you don't hear the offer you want so you pay the 12 million to field him. B. You get the offer you want, unload him. Use that compensation and cap savings (8 mil) for this year.

For that level of compensation, I'd want proof that he actually killed someone. Not just eyewitness proof, but actual video.

Maybe two people.

If our defense doesn't at least make significant strides in the right direction next season, its time to start seriously looking at getting rid of Reid. You justified your decision to keep him by blaming the previous GM for not bringing in talent and you traded away the starting QB after his career year because he just wasn't getting the job done. There's only so many more scapegoats Reid has left before the light is shining brightly on him as a major problem for this franchise.
