And outside of Colston, New Orleans doesn't have great WR's. Comparing Brees to Trent Green is the failure. Green was never as good as Brees is now.

When has Brees played from behind and made big plays?

He's playing great when playing with a lead, but hasn't been tested.

I'm not saying that he will fail in the clutch, only that he hasn't had to play in the clutch.

Until he does, he is just another QB putting up big numbers, just like Trent Green.

He's not playing for the Rams.

He's playing for the Jets.

If he doesn't make the plays he's making, Jets lose, that defense notwithstanding.

Green was a guy that could turn around and hand off to a 1500-1700 yard back. Brees hasn't had that. So he's had to carry the load exclusively. Green NEVER had to do that in Kansas City and that alone makes a difference. Not to mention a playoff win by Brees as well.

If he doesn't have that defense they aren't even in a position for his plays to matter.

THAT is the point. The Jets winning with defense. Sanchez threw for less than 180 yards the last two games each. He's not being asked to do THAT much.

TheGuardian 10-04-2009 06:03 AM

Sanchez will be asked, more than likely, to win a game today. Because the Saints are going to score points and their defense looks to be pretty good. So we'll see how he does in a situation where he is asked to score points to keep up.

No dumbass, that isn't the point.

It's a ****ing team game, and you are dismissing a guy making clutch plays in big situations simply because the defense is playing well.

I got news for ya.
Defenses don't score more points than the opposition very often.
The offense is generally charged with the task of scoring points, and the Jets offense, with Mark Sanchez at the helm, making plays, is scoring more points than the other team.

You are obviously in need of some air, Pioli Smoker.

It's good thing you decided to do it.

I haven't thrown any barbs in this discussion and right off the bat you come at me with the dumbass. Nice.

I know it's a team game. I've spent more time playing it than you have using your fucking metamucil and drinking ensure. But the fact is Sanchez is being carried by his defense. When you're throwing for 168 yard you're not "winning" games. You're just not losing them. When you're defense is only allowing 15 points a game you don't have to make a lot of "clutch" plays to win games. Just don't fuck it up. So far that's what he has done. Today we'll see what happens if the Saints hang 30 on them and he's asked to keep up. I don't think he'll fare so well.

When your ground game isn't producing at the level you expected, and you put your team in third and long situations consistently, and your QB keeps making good decisions and making plays consistently in those 3rd and long situations, he isn't simply not losing games.

He's making plays to help you win games.

Like I said, we'll see what happens if New Orleans hangs 30+ on them. Playing tight games is one thing, having to play in a come from behind situation in a high scoring game on the road is something completely different.

Watching Playbook NFC right now, and Brian Billick says that the Jets are winning right now because Sanchez is making plays.

I guess he should have consulted with the Guardian before he made that assessment, since the Guardian has played so much junior college football.

Oops!

Sanchez is the real deal. He is a franchise QB and is playing as such...

Reerun_KC 10-04-2009 06:50 AM

BTW, nobody, nobody in the NFL is talking about our QB...
