If somebody is getting 60fps without any dips and I'm dipping below 30 when there is a bunch of shit going on he is going to have an advantage over me. Yeah I could build a more powerful system than the PS4 for a comparable price, but I'd be at a disadvantage when going up against someone who has over a grand into his PC.

This makes no sense. I bought bf4 for 20 bucks on black friday, which was the day of official release. (pre-order beta players had already been playing on PC for weeks)

BTW, I like how you like to use battlefield as an example, since DICE devolves for PC and then shits on it for revenue in the form of a console release. In fact, they are a big force behind mantle, which is set to change the way PC hardware speaks to each other ,and increase CURRENT pc hardware game speeds from 45% to 300% faster in its current alpha state.

That's right, BF4 runs 45% faster on mantle then on direct X (which was already allows the game to be run at ultra settings at framerates consoles could never dream of). That means your console, which you bought and is stuck in its state for the next 5-8 years, just got 45% slower (just in bf4, other games are 300%), 3 months after release.
