Yup. Would be nice if CJ shows up

It’s not easy to legitimately give it your all on every play, especially vs an opponent that you feel superior to (like Jax). There’s almost always an extra gear. I think we already saw that. The pass protection was far better after the injury.

If (and a big if) Mahomes is close to being himself this weekend, this situation could really work in KC’s favor. They already have the added motivation of playing a cocky team that’s beaten them in three straight and ruined a golden opportunity last year. They’re going to be lazer focused and full of adrenaline.

Right.

The Chiefs are not going to win because they are extremely motivated. Their preparation and hard work during the week will be the reason they win. It is the AFCCG, I'm sure they would have been motivated regardless of the injury to Mahomes.

However, reality is these guys are human and not everyone is extremely competitive like Mahomes. Hopefully with Mahomes being a little banged up some of those guys are going to give that little extra effort during the week and during the game. Since they know without it, Chiefs may get their ass kicked just like what happened to the Bills.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this team does with a banged up Mahomes on Sunday. It will be interesting.

Good points. And yeah, you see Pacheco and how freakin' hard he runs all the time, or Toney running over a defender the other night.. there are players who have that extra gear all the time and others who have to find it.

Not being a pro athlete, it's hard for me to quantify that, but maybe some of it is sort of a "don't **** it up / just do your job" type of mentality turned into running over a dude for extra yards and also focusing on the little things.

This is where all those rookies in the secondary playing all year is gonna come into play.

They hold up on the back end, we've got time to pressure the dude.

Tackling will be key. Chase, Mixon and Perine always seem to get 4-5 more yards after contact. Their offensive scheme relies heavily on short routes with their receivers and backs getting 4 extra yards on those catches. If we don't immediately tackle them for short gains it will be a long game.

If you wanna really get after Burrow, it starts on 1st and 10. You've gotta get them in alot of 2nd and 8 and 9's and 3rd and 7's.

You let them stay in 2nd and 3's all day and we're in trouble.

If we don’t turnover the ball we likely win all three games. Too many mistakes down the stretch derailed us. We have all the tools even with a hobbled Mahomes — just need to use them the right way.

That’s the problem, Cincy is always able to make those 2-3 plays that make the difference, it’s a pattern with no end in sight.

Not really sure what the DL can do differently; effort and technique are going to decide who wins in the lines. Hoping that the DL coaches and find something to exploit. If other teams are able to effectively handle our DL with backups, then something is wrong with the player, coaches and/or scheme.

It's a tough task to stop all 3 WRs of the Bengals and if they get a running game going, it's going to be a long day. The offense needs to find a solution to the three man rush and stick to it.

I believe the Chiefs can win, I'm not sure how exactly; I just believe they can.

I'll be honest. For the last several years, any time we've looked at an opposing team's OL and said, "Ohh, it's beaten up - Chiefs are going to feast," I feel like the DL has disappeared.

I'm just going to pretend this is a tough test for CJ and company and go from there.

This is the first Chiefs playoff game in a long time where I wasn't at least a little confident the week before that we'd win.

Might be a Q but that team does talk a lot

If you don't think the Bengals are the best team just ask them.

Boys, it is as it should be.

The two proven big dawgs in the AFC meet for the championship.

Stop calling them frauds; they are not frauds. They are the real deal, as are we.

This is as tough a test as there is in football.

Burrow? Stop hating on him. In a world where we didn't have Patrick Mahomes, we would LOVE to have Burrow, and we'd smile and laugh at his cockiness. You want your QB to have some of that swagger. The guy is great. This is the Manning/Brady match-up of this era.

This is as worthy an opponent as there is. I only wish Mahomes was healthy. We can win this game! But it's going to take a full team effort, and Andy to break his tendencies and lean on the run a bit more than he wants to.

Protect Mahomes, and we can get it done.

Not a single fan would turn this down last August. Most didn't expect we could get here, with the toughest schedule in the league, and with all of the rookies that were going to be such a big part of the team. But this team's got HEART!

Let's get it done, boys!

BryanBusby 01-23-2023 09:26 AM

If you want to beat the Bengals you have to hit the **** out of them.

The Ravens weren't afraid to and kept it close. Buffalo played soft and got rolled.

Blast them receivers for awhile and Burrow will become vulnerable.
