Tharpe played 15 minutes without turning the ball over. Real progress, especially in a game like that (when every player in our starting lineup had 3+ turnovers).

Actually, it was more than just that. He actually made some nice plays, especially on offense. He did miss a few defensive assignments, though. But it looks like he's making progress. That's a great sign. We have desperately needed a reliable backup PG.

And he made another nice drive down the lane and on the right side put up the shot over 2 OSU defenders. I thought that was gonna get blocked.

Young and Tharpe both really stepped up


They made up for EJ and Releford poor play.

I wouldn't say EJ and TR played poorly. They made plenty of good plays. But yeah, they made some uncharacteristic errors. :doh!:

KU didn't play to their potential today and still won in a very tough environment. Typical Bill Self team in terms of toughness and resolve.

They just need a backup PG who doesn't turn the ball over every few minutes he has it and actually gives an effort defensively. He's been able to do that over the last few games. Anything on top of that is extra.

Tharpe was awesome today.

I know we all would love to see perfection but they're college kids. Not pro's. They're learning as they go. They beat a top ten team and a team ranked above them... on the road... even by missing free throws and committing too many turnovers... and they still dominated the second half. They're one of the elite teams in the nation... again.

Some people should get some perspective imo. If you're going to bitch about everything that isn't perfect you're going to bitch every game and miss the enjoyment of watching another great team and great season. Be glad you weren't rooting for the team that couldn't hit a shot to save their lives, was obviously gassed and could hardly even get the ball inbounds.

And I would even submit that we dominated the first half. The only thing that kept OSU in this game was stupid errors (TOs) in the first half and some questionable foul calls in the second half. Really, this should have been a blowout.

It should have been a blowout, you're right. As it is we were up by as many as 12 late in the game even playing less than perfect. I agree about the first half too. When the starting 5 where in we were dominant. A team like OSU isn't going to just let you run them out of their own buiding. Hell I didn't even expect to win today so I'm extremely impressed. They have composure and resiliency. Another Bill Self team. Love being a Jayhawk.

Seems to be a down year for B12 this season.....wonder if Kansas can run the table.

You can tell Kansas has some PG problems.....EJ isn't a true point guard and has trouble if you're up in his grill. Overall OSU is a good defensive team and one that KU isn't going to see much of. It was a great road win...esp since that was the first true road game of the season. Hopefully they can build on this and Self usually has this team rolling by late Jan. REALLY wished they could have finished off MichSt...would love to get that game back because MichSt really isn't that good...but they have cream of the crop in terms of talent it just depends which team shows up.

Well, between you, Reerun, and a couple of others to a lesser extent, I'd think Kansas was always down by 20.

I am extremely happy with this win.

OSU, for obvious reasons, had revenge on the mind and was fired up for the win.

KU took their best punches and responded every time (something that wasnt always there in previous years - this early in the season).

May have an even higher ceiling than last year's team.......

I love Young's defense....and team mentality....but if he could consistently knock down a 15 footer....this team would be deadly.

The mighty B1G is still better than any other conference by quite a bit. Which isn't to say I wouldn't take KU in an neutral game against anybody from that conference, but that's mostly because KU is shaping up to be one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the country.

Why is this in the Repository thread? KU Basketball is the only program in the Kansas City area that plays at a Championship level. Each major game deserves it's own thread.

Im sure this team will have its ups and downs, mental lapses, etc. But they have looked amazing the last 4+ games, and are shaping into a title contender. I think they are better than last year, and there isnt a team like last years Kuntucky team to deal with. So many people overlooked the 4 starting seniors and didnt know how good McLemore is, or we'd be around the top 3.

Arizona is probably the weakest top 10 team I've ever seen. I can't remember a team being ranked way too high. KU would kill both them and SD on back to back nights.
