Right?

RBs weren't getting many opportunities against the Chiefs because they were behind? It isn't like we've been blowing people out. We've had a lot of close games, and almost every game has been close going into the 4th quarter. On the other hand, Denver's run defense has looked better statistically due to being ahead.

Obviously, the Carolina Panthers have the second best offense in football.

Seeing that you post the PFF updates every week on the Mane, I find it interesting that you're so quick to disregard its conclusions.

MagicHef 10-27-2013 10:13 PM

I know I've told you this before, but some of their stats have negative correlations with winning. As in, you are more likely to lose if PFF thinks you're good. Their rankings are literally meaningless.

The Chiefs' run defense is outstanding.

If you actually watched our games, you'd know this.

We've been winning all these close games and not scoring a lot of points. You can't do that with a bad run defense.

If the YPC stat is so staggering and crippling to a defense, why have we been so successful?

Are there actually 8 teams who are that ****ing stupid that they don't take advantage of that awesome YPC tool they wield?

Complete chance. We are the same team we were last year, just with the easiest schedule in the history of the NFL, with every call and bounce going our way. It is most definitely NOT because we are a legitimately good team.

Yeah, I've tried to stay out of the stats battle... you can find anything to support a claim. Week 11 can't get here soon enough.

The bye comes at a great time for the Broncos... then it's @ Chargers, Chiefs, @ Patriots and @ Chiefs in the next 4 games. That's a strong stretch of games.

The Broncos' defense needs to shape it up - understatement of the season there and the offense needs to continue doing what they do. It was good to see Franklin back on the OL. Nice to see Dreesen step in for Thomas and do well.

I like the trio of Moreno, Ball and Anderson ... 20 touches for Moreno is too much though, I know he's done well, but he'll never be out of the doghouse with me. Keep those guys all around an average in a rotation that limits any from having more than 15 touches and they should be good.

Anyway - can't wait for the next stretch of games, esp the two against KC.

We'll find out how good their defense really is...

We played two teams that were top 5 offensively and held them both to 16 points. You just can't assume we'll start giving up 30+.. Even if it helps you sleep better at night.

The "great defense" vs "great offense" debate is always a fun one and we get to see this one put to the test twice in the next month. My guess ... the teams split with both winning at home, leaving us with no real answer.

However, I am interested to know what the consensus is on the total points that KC will yield to Denver - in Denver and at KC. Conversely, I'm interested in knowing what you guys think KC's offense can score against Denver in both locations.

Of the offenses that KC's defense has faced... only 1 is currently ranked higher than 19th in Pts Scored per Game, that's Dallas and they contained them well in KC. If you look at yards gained per game, HOU and PHI are both in the top 10, the rest are beyond 15.

So, overall --- yes, KC's defense is doing well, but they really haven't been tested, aside from DAL really.

On the flipside, Denver's offense has lit it up, mostly against defenses ranked lower than 17th in points allowed per game. The Ravens and Colts are 11th and 8th overall, and Denver still put up big points against them, albeit losing to the Colts.

As well, the defenses they've faced are all average at best (save for OAK) at yards allowed per game with 7 of the 8 being ranked 16th and beyond.

KC presents the Broncos with absolutely their greatest test on paper, as they are right now ranked 1st in PPG allowed and 5th in yards.

Again - I think they split the home games worst case, but if there's going to be a split... sad to tell ya, but I think Denver's offense will stand the test and unless Smith and company can put up 28 points... it will be a Denver sweep.

There's a rude awakening on the horizon with this trip to Buffalo...

If Denver turns it over 4 times again they will not win either game. They have issues with ball security and just plain being stupid that are being masked by the poor competition just like the Chiefs have offensive issues being masked. That Denver offense leads the AFC in give aways.

The Chiefs play like pussies every time we play you guys. Last year all you guys did was run the ball and throw short little dump offs. Von will probably rape Fisher like he's never been raped before, but he won't have as many opportunities to get sacks as Houston will.

That's nice. That's relevant how?

nobody here thought that the Chiefs would actually win.
You know why? Because we were a two win team. Congrats on sweeping the worst team in the NFL. That's like boasting about the Colts sweeping the Jags.

He got sacked like 5 times yesterday. If the Donks defense is as good as you fans claim, it should be a piece of cake for Von to get to Alex, especially if he's 1 on 1 with Fisher.

If I thought you guys would do something other than throw dump offs all game then I'd make the bet.

I already said that I'm willing to bet that Denver will beat you.

Want to press your luck and make it the game at Kansas City? I'm honestly expecting a loss at Denver.

See? That's called realistic expectations. You should try it sometime.

You DO know that this team is not even close to the same team that you played last year, yeah?

Of course you do. If you didn't, you would deserve to not even be alive.
