We've had a lot of close games, and almost every game has been close going into the 4th quarter. On the other hand, Denver's run defense has looked better statistically due to being ahead.

Well, so far KC has faced 2 teams in the top half of the league in scoring. In the final 8 games, they will face 7 such teams.

The Broncos' defense needs to shape it up - understatement of the season there and the offense needs to continue doing what they do. It was good to see Franklin back on the OL. Nice to see Dreesen step in for Thomas and do well.

I like the trio of Moreno, Ball and Anderson ... 20 touches for Moreno is too much though, I know he's done well, but he'll never be out of the doghouse with me. Keep those guys all around an average in a rotation that limits any from having more than 15 touches and they should be good.

Anyway - can't wait for the next stretch of games, esp the two against KC.

How many top half defenses have the Broncos played?

We played two teams that were top 5 offensively and held them both to 16 points. You just can't assume we'll start giving up 30+.. Even if it helps you sleep better at night.

Also, quick update to my above post, now that Philadelphia laid an egg, KC has only played one team in the top half of the league for scoring.

We won't hold the Donks to 17 or less like we've done to every other team we've played...but the Donks won't be scoring 35 on us either...

The "great defense" vs "great offense" debate is always a fun one and we get to see this one put to the test twice in the next month. My guess ... the teams split with both winning at home, leaving us with no real answer.

However, I am interested to know what the consensus is on the total points that KC will yield to Denver - in Denver and at KC. Conversely, I'm interested in knowing what you guys think KC's offense can score against Denver in both locations.

Of the offenses that KC's defense has faced... only 1 is currently ranked higher than 19th in Pts Scored per Game, that's Dallas and they contained them well in KC. If you look at yards gained per game, HOU and PHI are both in the top 10, the rest are beyond 15.

So, overall --- yes, KC's defense is doing well, but they really haven't been tested, aside from DAL really.

On the flipside, Denver's offense has lit it up, mostly against defenses ranked lower than 17th in points allowed per game. The Ravens and Colts are 11th and 8th overall, and Denver still put up big points against them, albeit losing to the Colts.

As well, the defenses they've faced are all average at best (save for OAK) at yards allowed per game with 7 of the 8 being ranked 16th and beyond.

KC presents the Broncos with absolutely their greatest test on paper, as they are right now ranked 1st in PPG allowed and 5th in yards.

Again - I think they split the home games worst case, but if there's going to be a split... sad to tell ya, but I think Denver's offense will stand the test and unless Smith and company can put up 28 points... it will be a Denver sweep.

There's a rude awakening on the horizon with this trip to Buffalo...
