The O's hate of us should really be directed to their under-performing big time players in the playoffs.....cough cough.....Adam Jones.

They also should have kept Jim Johnson. :D

Exactly.

Adam Jones had a bad series. And the guy who REALLY killed them was Steve Pearce. That guy stranded the population of Papua New Guinea in that series.

If the Royals had lost this series, it would have been on Cain/Hosmer/Moustakas for not performing (and still might).

They'll get McHugh again on Wednesday, and I think KC beats the shit out of him. I imagine Houston will also be willing to go to Keuchel for 3-4 innings, but hopefully KC can jump to a big lead early and not let Keuchel be the deciding factor.

And if he is? Well, goddamn. Bully for him.

Apparently, Orioles fans just aren't that mature.

Yeah, I do hate their stadium, but wouldn't care if they made it to the World Series.

He has been our second best reliever, no question.

Agreed...
And that SHIT UMP behind the plate completely missed Strike 3 on Correa right before the homer.....

Yeah exactly. I was going to post "great series - you guys completely outplayed us" - in the thread on another forum that's about 2/3 Astros fans.

Now the Blue Jays OTOH. I really don't like them.

I really feel like our guys grew up a lot in this series. Even though they struggled against Kuechel - they pushed him to 130 pitches in what 7 innings? When have we EVER done that? It seemed like they were much more selective, every AB was a "professional at bat".

And they continued that today - it just took until the 8th inning for the floodgates to finally open. Even Moose's strikeout was an incredibly tough AB. If they keep that same focus Wednesday I think they romp.

Imagine how good we can be with a little more plate discipline? Even Salvy has looked much better this offseason. I think we're a much better team right now than last year at this time - when let's be honest, pretty much everything went our way until the WS.

Hootie 10-12-2015 08:59 PM

the Gore call was embarrassingly bad ... how in the world can they overturn that?

and they really need to make a rule against the defender being able to force a base runner off the base like that ...

Exactly. He popped up quickly to avoid landing on the defender's arm and because he already slid into the guy's leg. The play should basically be dead once the runner touches the base safely and the defender has the ball but is continuing being over the bag. It's essentially the defender forcing the runner off by holding a tag and it's happened more than once this year.

suzzer99 10-12-2015 09:02 PM

Yeah basically instant replay demands zero margin for error on the base runner, whereas umps aren't going to see or call a fielder's nudging the runner off the base unless it's blatantly obvious. The scales are really tipped to the fielder right now.

And even then - I saw nothing but wrist hit Gore's butt.

I pretty much conceded to an Astros fan I worked with. I felt no resentment I just felt like they beat us. Then the tide turned.

On the Madson thing. I'm good with Madson I'm just personally more comfortable with Herrera for some reason. It's not a big gap. Obviously, Wade Davis is the only one that truly puts me at ease these days.

I think they thought after so many years of taking a back seat to the Yanks, Red Sox and even Rays - that last year was finally their year. They had just won with a bunch of dramatic comebacks vs. Detroit's LOLpen, had home field in a best of 7 and clearly thought they had the best team. They never counted on the Royals pushing their shit in.

Apparently people from Baltimore don't respond well to Surprise Buttsecks.

suzzer99 10-12-2015 09:11 PM

Dammit - the 3rd time watching and Moose's liner still goes foul. Just a millisecond later on the swing and that's in the corner and Dyson is flying around the bases.

Those were the best Royals to me. Cain would have caught that though. THAT was a fun time. Trying to bust through the Yankees. And I always loved Billy Martin.

No ejections. LMAO

suzzer99 10-12-2015 09:14 PM

suzzer99 10-12-2015 09:15 PM

Brew Dutera - greatest walk in Royals' history?

suzzer99 10-12-2015 09:18 PM

It looks like Castro had a chance on the Butera dribbler to grab it before it went foul, but chose not to for some reason. Bad choice.

Also lol @ the dumbass announcers saying the walk was good because it sets up the double play. This after bemoaning that Correa got an error. Just piss poor.

TambaBerry 10-12-2015 09:18 PM

That Gore slide was bulshit, if I'm a base runner and I see the player block the base like he did I'm sliding spikes first as hard as I can into his leg with intent to break it. Then he pushes Gore off with the tag absolute horse shit.

I suspect that in some late night MLB exec conference call they're talking about the beast they just created. Between the broken leg and calls like this, the players might react less nicely than they might hope.

For those who have grown up in the world of suspensions and what not, that's a good example of why the stupid bench clearing argument shit happens these days... they've removed all of the fighting (when was the last time someone actually charged the mound?), but everyone still goes through the motions like shit's about to go down.

suzzer99 10-12-2015 09:32 PM

Wade Davis is in the Mariano Rivera category. On another level.

You seem nice.

I just went back and read from post 700 to around 1550. This thread is one of the best ever on this site, and you're all awesome. LMAO

I drove to Springfield and back today. Anybody that saw me on the road during the eighth and ninth innings might have thought I was a legitimate madman driving down the road, lol.

My girlfriend is a die-hard As fan. I think she's still mad from last year but to her credit he doesn't bitch (except for us "taking a break" for one day after the WC game last year). However my celebrating this year seems to have induced some sort of PTSD.

Good thing I'm heading back to KC for game 5 and won't see her for over a week!

I'll take good care of her.

Last year you should have PIIHB to make her feel better

Zobrist made a point about Butera's AB. What a badass moment that was. Pure props to that guy. Zobrist said it right ... that was a PROFESSIONAL AB.

My 13 year old son said that... he was on the school bus home, and he couldn't believe that Butera got 10 pitches thrown at him. I couldn't either. I was like damn, that was a MLB at-bat, right there.

Good shit. This is the kind of game that could propel them like last year.

You and I apparently both made the same reply to Matt Davis on twitter tonight.

Knowing what you think of Butera's ability with the bat, that's saying a lot.

Yep. Idiotic baseball fan base on this board. We lost a series and deserved to lose. That simple. We got outplayed. I'm mad about Davis only pitching 1 inning but it ends there. Other than that, we simply lost to the better team in that series. Kudos to Houston

What

Try driving around in a patrol car. Everyone is always staring and I fist pumped a lot during the comeback. I'm sure citizens thought I was jerking and driving.

I'll own mine. It was over. O. V. E. R.

I'm still in shock that we pulled that off. I'll never doubt this group of guys again.

Once again though, it goes far beyond normal the regular "oh noes!".... I'm still trying to process HTF that happened.

-- They were dead at the plate. I would have predicted a WC comeback before what happened yesterday.

-- The worst possible thing happened the previous inning with Rios, who had struck out twice on 6 total pitches. He should have been the final out, but had to lead off again. So, he singles and walks in the same inning.

-- Had I guessed how the Royals could have possible comeback, I would have guessed home runs + craziness... maybe a walk or two, a couple errors, stolen bases... maybe a run or two in both remaining innings. Not so much tripling their number of hits in one inning (or whatever it was) with the merry-go-round of players with 5 straight hits... all with Rios leading off, Butera walking, and some craziness mixed in with the error.

Still my favorite quote from yesterdays thread. This little bauble of funniness inside a thread of madness. Just money:clap:

Of course C3HIEF3S is always one of the better posters in Royals threads, but still, the timing of that post made me :deevee: in laughter.

Our starting pitching ironically wasn't too bad ...
You have to score more than 2 ****ing runs a game. This is the 3rd game out of 4 that we've only scored 2 runs.

Everyone is swinging for the fences and probably rightly so since we can't seem to score any other way.

Ned went into "I don't give a shit" mode in early September and imo, it cost us. We sat back, feeling all big and fat like we were entitled to something. Now we are going home after round 1 of the playoffs.

What a dipshit. Not because you were discouraged by what seemed to be probable outcome of the game.

It's dipshittery because you took th long awaited chance to blame this game on the "entitlement" of the team, on the "I don't give a shit attitude" of the manager,

Pete, you should get up in the morning and do the exact opposite of whatever the little hamster on the wheel that powers your brain tells you what to do.

Try it.

Captain Hindsight. Next you'll tell us all how you knew we would win. You have a very unhealthy and disturbing obsession with me. Seek help.

Anyone who is bashing participants in the GDT for calling it game over after the Astros teed off on Madson need to get a grip ... Find me one post of optimism about the series after the end of the 7th inning.

Hell, I was as optimistic as anyone and even I had tipped my cap to the Astros after that.

Dude, I committed Harakiri after Correa's shot in the 6th. I bled out and was brought back to life in the 8th inning.:D
