Adam Jones had a bad series. And the guy who REALLY killed them was Steve Pearce. That guy stranded the population of Papua New Guinea in that series. If the Royals had lost this series, it would have been on Cain/Hosmer/Moustakas for not performing (and still might). They'll get McHugh again on Wednesday, and I think KC beats the shit out of him. I imagine Houston will also be willing to go to Keuchel for 3-4 innings, but hopefully KC can jump to a big lead early and not let Keuchel be the deciding factor. And if he is? Well, goddamn. Bully for him. |

I got home 2 hours after it started and luckily my dumbass friends have learned not to text me. I was able to avoid knowing anything and watched the game completely through.
What an amazing game! |
Does someone have video of the Gore call?

Did you meet your new child yet?!?!? |

And that SHIT UMP behind the plate completely missed Strike 3 on Correa right before the homer..... |

Now the Blue Jays OTOH. I really don't like them. |

You'd rather have Tiny Tim than Madson? |
Watching the last 2 innings again, drinking progressively more...

but the Cubs, with their lineup and bench depth, and Arrieta/Lester is FAR scarier than the Cards ... and FAR scarier than the Dodgers (no lineup). I personally want a Cubs/Royals WS ... but ideally we face the Cardinals, as, IMHO, they are the least talented team left in the playoffs |

Just so yall know, i started watching in the top of thr 6th inning
|

And they continued that today - it just took until the 8th inning for the floodgates to finally open. Even Moose's strikeout was an incredibly tough AB. If they keep that same focus Wednesday I think they romp. Imagine how good we can be with a little more plate discipline? Even Salvy has looked much better this offseason. I think we're a much better team right now than last year at this time - when let's be honest, pretty much everything went our way until the WS. |
the Gore call was embarrassingly bad ... how in the world can they overturn that?
and they really need to make a rule against the defender being able to force a base runner off the base like that ... |

Watching the last two innings again, still all good.

And even then - I saw nothing but wrist hit Gore's butt. |
Great lesson got Gore, next time the asshole puts his foot on that side of the bag, do your thing...
|
I pretty much conceded to an Astros fan I worked with. I felt no resentment I just felt like they beat us. Then the tide turned.
On the Madson thing. I'm good with Madson I'm just personally more comfortable with Herrera for some reason. It's not a big gap. Obviously, Wade Davis is the only one that truly puts me at ease these days. |
O's fans are so bitter they riot at a drop of a hat. Whoop too soon?

Apparently people from Baltimore don't respond well to Surprise Buttsecks. |
Dammit - the 3rd time watching and Moose's liner still goes foul. Just a millisecond later on the swing and that's in the corner and Dyson is flying around the bases.
|

I still don't like Madson, though. I'd definitely prefer that we do everything we can to have him not pitch in a tight situation tomorrow. |

Those were the best Royals to me. Cain would have caught that though. THAT was a fun time. Trying to bust through the Yankees. And I always loved Billy Martin. No ejections. LMAO |
I love love love when Brett just jumps up swinging.
|
Brew Dutera - greatest walk in Royals' history?
|
It looks like Castro had a chance on the Butera dribbler to grab it before it went foul, but chose not to for some reason. Bad choice.
Also lol @ the dumbass announcers saying the walk was good because it sets up the double play. This after bemoaning that Correa got an error. Just piss poor. |
That Gore slide was bulshit, if I'm a base runner and I see the player block the base like he did I'm sliding spikes first as hard as I can into his leg with intent to break it. Then he pushes Gore off with the tag absolute horse shit.

Brett didn't get tossed.
That's awesome. |

Ah the good old days. You old bastards are so lucky. |

For those who have grown up in the world of suspensions and what not, that's a good example of why the stupid bench clearing argument shit happens these days... they've removed all of the fighting (when was the last time someone actually charged the mound?), but everyone still goes through the motions like shit's about to go down. |
The strikeout the ump didn't call on Butera was about 6" lower than the one he did call on Esky. Makeup call obv.

Lol again dumbass announcers calling Holland going down a loss. Best thing that happened to us.
Can you imagine today's game with a one run lead and Holland pitching the 9th? I would literally have pulled a Fred Sanford and be dead on my floor. |

I was appalled by the decision to overturn the Gore slide ...
but imagine if they overturned the Utley play against the Royals I don't know what I would have done ... something I probably would have regretted |

Never mind, let's keep the formula going. |
The Wade Davis strikeouts looking to Rasmus and Tucker are just so nasty. We are in the presence of greatness.

Mellinger is really coming into his own. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt...e38891583.html
We may have been spoiled with Posnanski and Whitlock (before he went full reerun) for so many years. But I still remember the Gib Twyman/Jonathan Rand times. Here let me reiterate the obvious in a really bland way. Dark dark days those were. |

Even with two innings left and a 1 run lead, who here didn't think we were going to win? |

I just went back and read from post 700 to around 1550. This thread is one of the best ever on this site, and you're all awesome. LMAO
I drove to Springfield and back today. Anybody that saw me on the road during the eighth and ninth innings might have thought I was a legitimate madman driving down the road, lol. |
My girlfriend is a die-hard As fan. I think she's still mad from last year but to her credit he doesn't bitch (except for us "taking a break" for one day after the WC game last year). However my celebrating this year seems to have induced some sort of PTSD.
Good thing I'm heading back to KC for game 5 and won't see her for over a week! |

Zobrist made a point about Butera's AB. What a badass moment that was. Pure props to that guy. Zobrist said it right ... that was a PROFESSIONAL AB.

I'm still in shock that we pulled that off. I'll never doubt this group of guys again. |

-- They were dead at the plate. I would have predicted a WC comeback before what happened yesterday. -- The worst possible thing happened the previous inning with Rios, who had struck out twice on 6 total pitches. He should have been the final out, but had to lead off again. So, he singles and walks in the same inning. -- Had I guessed how the Royals could have possible comeback, I would have guessed home runs + craziness... maybe a walk or two, a couple errors, stolen bases... maybe a run or two in both remaining innings. Not so much tripling their number of hits in one inning (or whatever it was) with the merry-go-round of players with 5 straight hits... all with Rios leading off, Butera walking, and some craziness mixed in with the error. |

It's dipshittery because you took th long awaited chance to blame this game on the "entitlement" of the team, on the "I don't give a shit attitude" of the manager, Pete, you should get up in the morning and do the exact opposite of whatever the little hamster on the wheel that powers your brain tells you what to do. Try it. |

Anyone who is bashing participants in the GDT for calling it game over after the Astros teed off on Madson need to get a grip ... Find me one post of optimism about the series after the end of the 7th inning.
Hell, I was as optimistic as anyone and even I had tipped my cap to the Astros after that. |
