Was finally able to find an online stream to catch up on all the latest episodes.

This season blows the last two away. Holy hell.

Black and white, for more of the comic book feel.. Interdasting.....

'The Walking Dead': AMC To Air Drama In Black & White

"The Walking Dead" is getting a new look. THR reports that the AMC drama will air in black and white, beginning in February.

The 90-minute premiere, airing Feb. 14, will be the first black-and-white episode. The midseason premiere will pick up where the show left off in December.

The zombie drama, which is known for excessively bloody scenes, has been a strong show for AMC, receiving positive critical reception and increasing ratings.

AMC will air "The Walking Dead" in black and white starting Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. EST.

That would be cool to see, but I don't know. All the episodes?

This could be a money saving technique. They can make things more gory using black and white and not have to spend so much on fake blood. I really hope it's just portions of the 1st episode and certainly not all of them. I'll be pretty upset about that.

Not sure I like that.

I wouldn't worry about that at this point. They've already done it for the first episode, aired it months and months ago (it looked pretty awesome). This will be all of them, (first two seasons I think, not first half of season three, although I could be wrong about that) leading into the second half of season 3. It's just a novelty thing, adds a little coolness factor for zombie fans, by "night of the living dead"ing it up.

Do not want black and white....maybe they can sell us the soundtrack on 8 track tape too!

Oh so the re-airs are in black and white? Jesus my reading comprehension can fail me sometimes.

I read it the same way you did. If it's only re-airs, then that's an extremely poorly worded article.

It's very vague.

Yea, I'm guessing that by the show starting at 6:30 EST it is re-runs, because new episodes air at 9 EST.

No. My guess is that they actually film them in color, then just post convert them to black and white.

Theres a difference between black and white photography and color photography...lighting etc....

Right. When I posted this I thought they were doing the second half of season 3 in black and white. I misunderstood.

Barret 12-18-2012 10:02 AM

Could they be doing this in black and white due to the amount of blood and or gore that will soon be shown?

I ask this because didn't Tarantino have the same issue in Kill Bill Vol 1 where The Bride is Killing the Crazy 88's in the bar? The MPAA said they had to tone down the blood so He changed the color to Black and White.....wait I found it..

Black and white (as well as black and red), were used to conceal the shedding of blood from television censors. Originally, no black and white photographic effects were going to be used (and in the Japanese version none are), but the MPAA demanded measures be taken to tone the scene down.

I think it's what I mentioned before, they're doing it as an homage to the original night of the living dead (although I've also read it's an homage to the original black and white Walking Dead comics - so maybe it's that). They did it with the pilot episode back in July.

What I've read right now is that it's all of season one and the first half of season 2.
