The steals come late in the draft, when you get a Trey Smith for a 6th, or a Pacheco in the 7th.

Basically every edge was gone by round 3, Chiefs got ahead of it.

Well, as I posted just above, the DE's tended to thin out by mid second, so they got the guy they wanted at 31. In multiple mocks from multiple sites, Uzi was always gone by 40. If you like a guy at 40, just take him at 31 for the 5th year if nothing else. Don't get cute. Solid pick.

There was a big grouping of 2nd-3rd round WR's; they went up and got the guy they wanted from that group rather than take what fell. Rice went about where he tended to in multiple mocks. He's a 'Hopkins' type receiver, with nearly identical measurements. Physical, aggressive, good RAC.

Morris has experience at both OT spots, but played RT mostly. 35" arms, athletic, quick. Definitely starter potential with a little clean-up in his technique.

All three positions of need, all three went at about the right spot, no reaches, the last two they went up and got their guy rather than wait.

I think it's a real solid B+ draft, and that's tough to do picking at the bottom of the round.

I think FAU and Rice went a bit early but nothing egregious. You can kinda get away with not maxing value when your roster is set and you won the ****ing Super Bowl.

I didn't like the first trade up much but they at least made a logical selection with it.

The WRs weren't following any pattern, when Jayden Reed goes 50 if Rice is your guy you have to go get him.

Pattern seemed mostly fine. CP just overrated a few guys.

If my research is correct, the Chiefs still have the following:

4(32)
5(32)
6(1)
6(17)
7(33)

I could be wrong but I feel the Chiefs will go DL-heavy on day 3. More EDGE, DT or two. That will be the theme for this class. Injecting some fresh blood into in that front-four rotation.

BigRedChief 04-28-2023 10:25 PM

Op: we only have one 6th round pick tomorrow, correct?

We need rotational DT help. Maybe developmental OL talent and a CB to start in 2 year.

No sir, it is correct.

The Rashee Rice trade had a pick come back with it.

A little early sure, but I think fans view the draft completely differently from the team. Fans are trying to win every pick, hoping guys fall to them. Teams target player and go after the guys they want. In this draft they would rather have Rice than others on the board, so they go up and get their guy. The team is looking for fit. The fan is looking for the instant gratification of getting a steal.

Nope. There are more picks in the 5th round, up to 43. The LAR has 5th(43) then KC at 6(1).

I can understand the thinking of (32) then (1), but that’s usually rounds 1 and 2 in most cases. 3rd or later rounds also have the comp picks involved.
