Mahomes was easily the best player on the field in Super Bowl LV and yet there wasn't a damn thing he could have done to have won that game.

Same goes for LeBron against the KD Warriors in either of those 2 Finals.

Neither should be penalized for that if you're engaging in GOAT discussions.

You play both sides and impact the game way more as an individual player in basketball. How can this even be your argument?!?!

Same goes for anybody's titles. They are a team award.

This is absolutely horseshit.

KD clearly outplayed Lebron in those 2 finals, better team or not.

Are you really arguing there was something LeBron could have done to have beaten the Kevin Durant Warriors in 2017 and 2018? If not, then how can you penalizing him for losing those Finals?

They don't matter in that context, yes. Determining GOAT. If they did, we'd just hand that title to Bill Russell and Tom Brady and call it a day but nobody in their right mind actually does that.

No, he was outmatched, but he could've outplayed KD, and he simply did not.

We all watched. We all saw KD drain a 3 right in front of Lebron's face, and then Lebron ran away the next year when he did it again to avoid the embarrassment.

What keeps Kobe from being in that conversation? Apparently lots of rx NBA players are complete morons and their opinions don't count when talking about who the greatest is because there are lots that think Kobe is.

In 2018, LeBron's #2 was washed Kevin Love and his #3 was JR Smith who forgot the score of the game. KD's #2 was prime Steph Curry and his #3 was prime Klay Thompson.

What are you even arguing here?

You don't seem to understand the distinction between "they don't matter at all" and "they're not the be all end all".

Is nuance really this difficult for you? Or is this just bad faith?

KC_Connection 05-21-2023 05:36 PM

FYI, LeBron also averaged 34-9-10 on 52% shooting in that 2018 Finals despite getting doubled on every possession. Durant was 29-11-7 on 52% shooting despite getting single coverage and a ridiculous amount of space due to playing with a top 15 player of all time in Curry.

Outplayed? LMAO

You know what I'm arguing here and everything you jsut said is completely irrelevant to the point I'm making.

KD was the best player on the court in both Finals.

Is it your postion that Lebron couldn't possibly be the best player on the floor if he also has a better team? Of course it's not, you're just a disingenuous ****ing cock sucker.

Lebron had to shoulder more of a workload. Of course he had better total stats. That's why he doesn't get knocked too much for losing to them. KD was still the best player on the court. Are you incapable of using your own eyes?

This is what I mean. Titles don't matter. Stats and longevity though? Well of course they're the be all end all! So convenient.

In the GOAT discussion, they don't. That's correct. Otherwise, you'll end up making ridiculous arguments in 10 years that Brady had a better career than Mahomes despite being nowhere near as good a player.

LeBron was the best player on the floor in that series and the stats expose that quite clearly.

KD certainly did a good job of joining up with a 73 win team and winning 2 fraudulent titles, but that doesn't make him a better player than LeBron at any point in his career.
