line up next to all the people who said Pollard was a great safety and we need to keep him.....

More baseless ****ing bullshit.

From the day he was drafted:

Jamaal Charles is exactly what our team needs.

Sometimes I think that people just assume that a football team is 22 players plus a kicker, punter, return man, and a long snapper. It's not. You need guys like Charles, and he fills a vital role that is far more important than just a backup.

He's going to be our third down back, and he can gash defenses with his speed. I guarantee you that he's got more breakaway speed than maybe any back but Chris Johnson (even if McFadden's 40 was faster).

Oh, the irony.

Let's take a look at past history:

Everyone is on the block

Add in the fact that we traded two players before the deadline

Then add in the fact that Charles was languishing on the bench

Then add in the fact that Washington needed a RB b/c Portis was brain dead.

But, since Pioli has no history of trading players from prior regimes, like say Tank Tyler or Tyler Thigpen, the thought that he'd trade another backup is completely out of the ****ing question, especially when he said that everyone, sans Matt Delhomme was on the block.

And we are the ones who are blinded by emotion.

Right.

great, you can stand in the "he's a 3rd down back" line.....

still no one in the "he's our feature back" line....

and you're upset because athen claims we tried to trade what you believed was a 3rd down back?

fascinating

Right.

Clinton Portis was healthy until after the trade deadline, as was Ladell Betts. In fact, we PLAYED Washington in week 6, after the deadline, and Portis rushed for over 100yards. So, you still think we were talking to Washington about trading them Charles, the week we played them, while they still had two healthy, very capable backs?

wild1 01-04-2010 12:15 PM

I was campaigning for Charles to be the starter over Larry Johnson. I wanted Johnson cut before the season so he wouldn't collect his salary this year. I posted a thread early in the season begging for the change.

But, I can't claim it was because I recognizes Charles was a Chris Johnson. It was just because I realized Larry Johnson is washed up earlier than some.

Yeah, I mean, it's not like I said he had more breakaway speed than anyone but Chris Johnson, or that he was far more important than getting a lineman there (because I was replying to BRC's complaint that we didn't draft Jeremy Zuttah, FWIW).

Again, keep making shit up.

Two capable backs? Betts was 30 years old, and neither he nor Portis have breakaway speed unless they are getting an escort down the sidelines from Mike Brown.

Somehow, I don't think that the Redskins, who have a long and illustrious history of trading picks for players, would find it out of the possibility that they could trade for a 22 year old running back when the combined age of their "top two" is 58.

I don't have any "emotion" in this because I give everyone a fair shake until they prove otherwise.

You went off on this even though not a shred of proof has been offered up that it has teeth. Why? Because you've got some axe to grind with Haley and Pioli.

If you can stand up say that you were complaining for Charles to replace Larry all season then point to where you said it. Otherwise you don't have any ground to stand on about how bad the player evaluation is on this team. It's just something else for you to bitch about.

Hell we won in Denver yesterday and you and Mecca and others are bitching. We can't even win in dominating fashion without you guys finding something to bitch about.

they're your words

you thought he was a 3rd down back.....good for you, you're smarter than um well, nobody...as you had no more clue about his actual potential than anyone...

i'm not trying to stop you from crying about it....so, please, pardon my audacity of quoting YOUR EXACT WORDS and return to your throne, tears, teeth gnashing, wailing and all....

TheGuardian 01-04-2010 12:28 PM

If Hamas said that Charles was nothing more than a 3rd down back then he needs to st.f.u about the player evaluation skills of the front office and bitching about the OP story that so far, doesn't have any teeth. It's ridiculous.

Nevermind, just saw it........

So there it is. Now STFU about it.

You have quite a way with words, and well, actually reading them.

Nowhere in that post does he claim that Charles was nothing more than a 3rd down back, or that he'd never be more than a 3rd down back, only that he would serve that purpose. Implying that he'd be a 3rd down back his rookie year. Nothing referencing the future.

Again, the post in question is from right after we drafted him.

Reading is fundamental.
