Meh.

Wrong Atlanta CB.

Hope it's not for starter money.

Messier 03-09-2013 09:20 AM

Clay, who's the best CB on the FA market?

(Waiting as Clay checks PFF)

Great move. This screams "stopgap." Robinson's 30 years old. He's a guy who can help you win today while you keep gunning for draft picks and value free agent picks. I'd rather that than overpaying a guy to be a long-term fix.

this has stanford routt part II written all over it

i bet he gets cut by training camp or week 5.

Good thing our new FO don't seem to be complete reeruns like Pioli is.

mcaj22 03-09-2013 10:05 AM

well if they paid him "starter" money at 31 years old it was clearly a move to

A) Block the Raiders
B) they probably contacted Sean Smith's agent and like predicted, Sean Smith's agent is getting teams in a huge bidding war where someone is going to overpay. So Dunta was the backup plan, but they had to act fast and probably rolled out the red carpet for him over the Broncos who my guess, offered less money. Why else would he pick the Chiefs over the team with a SUPER BOWL window? We guaranteed him a starters role with starters money.

And I just dont see him beating Javier Arenas, or even a wildcard like Dequan Menzie or any CB we draft or bring in as a UDFA. I think there will be too much competition at CB for Dunta to craft a role for what they pay him and signed him for. But Dunta clearly was smart enough to know he needs to find a team with holes at CB before FA starts because he would have been washed out by about 20 other CBs signing to rosters and the market would have been saturated.

I'll bet he's our nickel by the start of the season.

you dont pay 4-6 million per year to someone to play "nickel"

no offense, but nobody does that in the NFL lol

The Franchise 03-09-2013 10:12 AM

Starter money at FS hopefully......

Did they report that? Between 4-6 mil?

mcaj22 03-09-2013 10:14 AM

RCB Javier Arenas, Jalil Brown, Dequan Menzie, Neiko Thorpe
LCB Brandon Flowers, Jalil Brown, Dequan Menzie, Neiko Thorpe
FS Kendrick Lewis, Tysyn Hartman
SS Eric Berry, Husain Abdullah

looking at the depth chart you'd think "Free Safety" is absolutely where you'd plug Dunta in.

Yes we need a CB, but we need a CB that can beat out Javier Arenas at CB2 or you draft a nickel CB. Javier Arenas is better at Dunta Robinson at everything, so I fail to see how he's beating him out unless Dunta is gifted the starting spot based of name recognition and pay grade

No just a report

Robinson is believed to be getting starter money from the Chiefs. With Brandon Flower doing the same, paying Smith top-of-market money no longer makes sense.

O.city 03-09-2013 10:16 AM

Dunta will be the fs.

This was Sean smiths agent after the info about us being out came out

@davidcanter: Biggest lesson of first hours of free agency. Media knows nothing. Don’t believe anything you read. It’s all smoke & mirrors
