At the same time, we have not lost games because of Alex Smith either, he's good, not bad and not elite. If we had to rely all the time on him to win games, I do not think we would win often enough to compete.

fair enough

i misunderstood

His play has gotten MUCH better. I think he gives es us the best shot at winning over the next 3-5 seasons.

Eh...I really want to see Bray in there in a couple of seasons.

If Bray is on the roster next year that would be a huge accomplishment for him. Projecting him as starter out 3+ seasons after AS is asking the world.

Safe to say he gets an extention. Terms are the only question. I think that is still tbd. I don't think Alex will look to empty the coffers even if the chiefs win the super bowl. I expect a modest contact that puts him in the middle of the road for qbs to top 10 ish.

Halfcan 12-16-2013 12:01 PM

I was one of the first on the Alex Bad Ass Smith bandwagon-but yes he almost lost me a few times this year-mostly the Denver games.

He played perfect yesterday and probably set himself up for a top 5 qb contract if we win out and win at least one game in the Playoffs.

My only true reservation with Alex getting an extension is the amount.

Andy Reid gave Mike Vick a 100 million dollar contract.

Does anyone think Alex is gonna get less?

What if we win out the rest of the year and he helps bring home a Championship? Would you care if they gave him flacco money?

No one can doubt we are a playoff caliber team. We are a handful of bad plays/ penalties/ drop passes away from being undefeated.

Lets hope they keep it rolling!

Unless he wins a SuperBowl that better not happen. If he wins a Superbowl I could give 2 shits less.

We are most likely winning one playoff game tops. If that is the case the smart move is to see how 2014 pans out. I'm happy with how Alex has played, and believe the oline and receivers are more of a problem than him. I'm still not ready to hitch my wagon to him until we see more. There is just no reason to do it.

I'll take the bird in the hand. We know what kind of team we are with Alex Smith....a playoff team. He's still young....lock him up and work on improving the team around him. He's not going to ask for Flacco money. He understands its a team sport and a lot of other guys will need to be paid too in order for us to stay competitive. Alex Smith is not after the money. More than anything he wants to be part of a winning team.

Is this just a hunch? ROFL

He's not going to get a max contact. Why? Because it's nit a priority for alex Smith

The reverse side of this is we are a handful of bad plays/ penalties/ drop passes away from being 9-6 or 8-7 too.

We just are not where we need to be as a team with AS carrying the load of a 11-3 team.
