Glad I missed most of that one.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 05:39 PM

Well, I'd say the bats woke up tonight.

DJ's left nut 07-28-2010 05:45 PM

Glad to see Garcia knows how to pitch with a lead...

LiL stumppy 07-28-2010 06:30 PM

Need a little more consistancy outta the Redbirds

Pasta Little Brioni 07-28-2010 07:21 PM

Nice to see that against a guy who had given up 3 runs combined in his last 5 starts. Johan's had a nice season, but his strikeout rate is way down this season.

Pasta Little Brioni 07-28-2010 07:36 PM

Uh-oh 7-5

Pasta Little Brioni 07-28-2010 07:57 PM

and they blow it 7-7 Muts still batting.

Frazod 07-28-2010 08:06 PM

Great. I go out for a 1/2 hour walk and come back to this shit.

Which one of our useless one who sucks the penis pathetic excuses for a pitcher is responsible for this shit?

:cuss:

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 08:15 PM

Boggs.

I start the 9th hole trying to beat the dark and it's 7-3 Birds. I get in my car and it's a ****ing four alarm fire.

That was a sick throw.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 08:38 PM

Holy shit, that was a ****ing seed by Yadi.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 08:44 PM

Hey Joles, how about you show back up.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 08:46 PM

What the **** was that shit?

Mike MacDougal! When did you guys sign him?

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 09:12 PM

About three weeks ago.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 09:14 PM

Wait, so you'll sub in LaRue, but you won't pinch run for Yadi with a pitcher in the last inning? FML.

OnTheWarpath15 07-28-2010 09:16 PM

Anyone know what our schedule looks like the rest of the way?

At this point, I hope we play nothing but solid ballclubs, because we absolutely shit the bed against inferior and average teams, while beating the piss out of good teams.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 09:18 PM

Well shit, even though he threw everything right down the middle, you can get away with it if you throw 96.

BigRedChief 07-28-2010 09:19 PM

There is no way that Pujols isn't hurt.

Our schedule the rest of the way is a ****ing joke. We have 5 series against the Reds (2) Giants, Braves, and Padres.

Every other team is absolute ass. We have like 12 games against the Pirates and several series against the Astros.

Well, ****.

Unless something dramatic happens, we're likely ****ed.

This team has an impressive knack for playing to the level of their competition.

Just keep eating that up. Notice how hard he rounded third earlier? See him run down the pop-up that inning? It's what he does when he's not hitting. Alberts fine, he's just pouting. I told you yesterday, its just albert being albert.

The Reds are a game over on the road, we're 8 games under.

I don't think he really "flopped". He had a couple good seasons. Got hurt/sick in between. He was very erratic at times, but overall he wasn't bad. I don't think they trusted him to stay healthy/consistent... I think they were trying to sell high.

Which honestly, seeing what he's done since... they were probably right. He was good that one half season for the White Sox after we traded him... and didn't really do much until last year. And last year he did effectively rack up saves... but his K/BB ratio and all that stuff wasn't nearly what it was when he was mowing people down in KC. Never had a problem with stuff though. In 2003 when the Royals were winning he was electric. I remember when the Giants came to town and he closed out one of the games and made Barry Bonds look absolutely foolish at the plate.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 09:31 PM

See, if we traded for Haren, we'd have a .360 hitter hitting right here.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 09:33 PM

If you had a kid, could you teach him to have a Dominican accent?

I'd love that.

He's done it for 3 years.

When he's pulling off the ball and smacking worm burners, he hobbles. When it comes to running through an Oquendo stop sign, he'll be busting it as hard as ever.

Don't buy it if you don't want to, but like I said, now that you've been alerted to it, you'll notice it more and more.

Hey the Braves are a good team. We got lucky and caught them during a down cycle and swept them That won't happen in ATL .

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-28-2010 11:42 PM

FWIW, Simmons did a podcast with Buzz Bissinger recently. They talk about the Cards for a while and 3 Nights in August starting at about 45 minutes. He also briefly mentions the Mulder deal.

DJ's left nut 07-29-2010 11:50 AM

The Cardinals have done absolutely nothing today. They're not even hitting the ball out of the infield with any regularity.

For a team that specializes in lethargic performances, this one ranks pretty high on the list.

Should've expected the knuckle-baller to handcuff them.

Frazod 07-29-2010 12:37 PM

Well, looks like we've got a couple on in the 9th with Albert up. Some late inning heroics would be nice right about now.

And as soon as I type it, Albert flies out to center. FML

I guess one positive is that Hawkworthless only gave up four runs today.

Frazod 07-29-2010 12:39 PM

Thank God it's against the Pirates. Maybe he can hold them under 6 or 7 runs. :(

Thankfully he's going on Saturday and I'll get to see WW on Sunday.

I will not be a happy camper if I miss the Whitey bobblehead and have to watch Suppan pitch. If they're going to give away some stupid stuffed bear (that I won't even get), then the least they can do is throw Wainwright.

Oh well, Carp should have a good outing tomorrow. We need it, he knows it.

Could be worse, it could be the Reds.

I'm not terribly concerned w/ what anyone else in the NL is up to. Oswalt was going to cost us Miller + money that we don't have. So if he's getting dealt to a team we don't have to deal with unless we make the playoffs, I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Oswalt is still too effective for us to sign him, we will wait a couple of years and then when he is throwing 85-87 with no movement we will pick him up and expect his bulldog experience to overcompensate for the meat buffet he lays out every 5 days.

oswalt would have been great but not at the cost of Miller.

If the forearm surgery was really a fix for Loshe and he returns to 2006 form, thats all we need but thats one helluva a big if.

And WTF is up with Freese? Does he know Brittle Croyle? they cousins or something?

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-29-2010 07:29 PM

BRC, by now you should know that the Cardinals have the worst doctors and training staff in the league. Do you think it's a coincidence that every single player always ends up hurt for longer than what they were originally scheduled to miss?

As far as Oswalt goes, Miller or not, the Astros are eating half that salary, and he's not requiring the 16 million dollar option get picked up. That's a hell of a discounted rate.

But again, as I said earlier, Ed Wade only deals with the Phillies.

Cardinals Close To Jake Westbrook Trade
By Tim Dierkes [July 31 at 10:19am CST]

The Cardinals are close to acquiring starter Jake Westbrook from the Indians, tweets Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Westbrook is scheduled to start against the Blue Jays a few hours from now.

Westbrook is pricey - he has $3.89MM remaining in base salary this year, and a $2MM bonus and $353K salary bump for being traded. That's a total of $6.24MM remaining. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets that the deal is at the union level as the teams try to sort through the financials.

Westbrook, 32, will solidify the back end of the Cardinals' rotation given the injuries to Kyle Lohse and Brad Penny. Westbrook has a 4.65 ERA, 5.1 K/9, 3.1 BB/9, and 53.3% groundball rate this season. He had Tommy John surgery in June of '08, and wasn't healthy until this year.
I wouldn't mind this at all so long the Cards don't give up much. With that contract I would figure he would come fairly cheap or the Indians would have to eat some of it.

Nope. Berkman has a $2M buyout. He's just a Nick Johnson replacement for them.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-31-2010 10:06 AM

Westbrook sucks, but he's the kind of pitcher that Duncan usually does well with.

It's amazing that we've won 2 out of our last three, given that we've scored 2 ****ing runs in the last 32 innings.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-31-2010 10:20 AM

WHAT THE ****!!!???

#Three-way deal. Padres get Ludwick. Cardis get Westbrook and prospect from SDP. Indians get prospects. Pending union OK

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-31-2010 10:36 AM

If the Cards do this trade and don't get back an A+ prospect, Mozeliak should be executed on home plate before tonight's first pitch.

Westbrook is owed almost 15 million dollars through 2011, and we're dumping Ludwick to the ****ing Padres, of all places?

Why would you make a likely opponent stronger, yourself weaker, and take on more salary?

He still has trade value, and it's worth a hell of a lot more than Jake Westbrook (which also INCREASES our payroll).

This isn't even a salary dump. Hell, that, as stupid as it sounds, would almost be defensible. We're taking on salary.

Not to mention that the offense has been worse than the pitching.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-31-2010 10:42 AM

If we're trading Ryan Ludwick, it needs to be for a #3 starter, not a fringe #4 with a bad elbow and shitty command.

That, or a legit 2B. A Howie Kendrick type.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-31-2010 10:45 AM

Union has approved trade. #Padres get Ludwick. #Cardinals get Westbrook, Padres give up two prospects.

'Hamas' Jenkins 07-31-2010 11:00 AM

Jake Westbrook and Nicholas Greenwood for Ryan Ludwick.

Fire Mozeliak now.
