I just don’t like having a ton of speedy, short WRs. We already have to manufacture touches for Hardman. I don’t want another guy like that.

This x1000

I want a 6'2ish receiver who can go up and get the ball.

Especially when teams are playing Cover 3.

I think he likes to have one or two. All the rest of our WR's have been bigger, X types.

Hill, yes.
Hardman may or may not have been an emergency insurance policy when the Hill crazy ex girlfriend shit was going down.

The rest? Conley, Watkins, Robinson, Pringle-all 6'0 plus, 205-210 guys.

I seriously doubt another tiny speedster is in the cards unless it's very late or UDFA.

Eh, i don't think so.

But i also don't think he's looking for a traditional big body, high point the ball kinda guy either.

I think that other WR will be somewhere between 6-0" - 6-2", 205-215 lbs and can still run a forty in the mid 4.4's-ish.

He wants a bigg-er guy, not a big guy. This bigger guy still needs to be able to get over the top if left 1v1 and have enough wiggle to do damage after the catch.

You know...Sammy Watkins. To a lesser degree, Chris Conley, Byron Pringle. The Chiefs have pretty much shown us what they want out of that position already.

Problem is there aren't many of those guys this year.

Watkins and those kinds of guys are still guys that excel at getting open underneath and making YAC.

When is the last time Andy really had a guy that was a big-bodied jump ball-type guy? Terrell Owens maybe?

I think Toney is going to fall, too. He's got a small track record of success AND is still a little raw. There's also this:

The guy got pulled over in college with a locked and loaded AR-15 on his backseat.

Seth Williams out of Auburn.

Did he get in trouble for that or something?

MahomesMagic 04-07-2021 03:30 PM

Like Williams a lot. He has a chance to emerge as a #1 WR.

It just might take an extra year or so before he is there. If we drafted him in say the 3rd, 1st year he could get some work but I would not expect dominance out of the gate. He is still very inconsistent.

No ticket or anything but I could see some teams being concerned with the judgment there.

Not illegal and I’m not suggesting it should be, either.

Mecca 04-07-2021 03:50 PM

Toney is 6' so he isn't exactly tiny, also he has awesome separation skills.

In58men 04-09-2021 12:36 PM

The Washington Football Team has waived TE Thaddeus Moss. He was a notable undrafted free agent signing last year who missed the season due to injury.

Wilson8 04-09-2021 03:56 PM

Thaddeus Moss is interesting, but he has a bunch of question marks. He had 1 good college year in 2019 with LSU's national championship run. He had 12 games, 43 catches, 570 yards, and 4 TDs. He did not stay in any high school or in a college for very long. Also has had some injuries. Washington could use a TE and they dumped him.

I would like a young, good TE to go with Blake Bell and Travis Kelce.

Moss is only 22 years old so maybe worth at least interviewing.

In58men 04-12-2021 01:53 PM

Veteran RB Giovani Bernard is signing a one-year deal with the #Bucs, per source.

In58men 04-12-2021 02:00 PM

James White had interest in joining Tom Brady and the #Bucs as their third-down back before re-signing with the #Patriots. Instead, it’s the newly available Gio Bernard. He had interest from TB and the #Chiefs, but ends up in Tampa Bay.

I'm just trying to understand something here. We need some vets at LT, DE and Corner and guys like Okung, Clowney and Hayward are out there but we're still waiting??? If we sign them after the draft does it protect any potential comp picks for next year?? Just wondering because I can't fathom why Veach and co are waiting around tbh.

Veach is probably opposed to using cap dollars on players who are made of glass.

See what you can fill via draft before spending money

Good points from others on this below. Players are also willing to wait it out as well. Most have come to the realization that they aren’t going to get a long term deal, are willing to hold out and roll the dice on a team not being able to land an immediate starter in the draft. A few in the know have alluded to the available free agent OT’s shutting down negotiations until after the draft.

As we get closer to the NFL draft, it seems less likely that KC does a signing unless a really good team friendly deal can be made.

Late in the afternoon on the Monday following the draft, free agent signings no longer count for the comp pick formula.

If you look at the current KC roster and start counting players, the draft and signing of college UDFAs could actually fill several of the Chiefs current needs.

After the draft, we may still need some veterans. Spotrac.com shows us as having $12,568,349 of cap space. Overthecap.com shows us as having an effective cap space of $9,221,691. Not sure what effective cap space is and why the difference. We still need money to sign draft picks and teams like to keep a few million for in season possible roster changes.

Point is, unless we do another contract renegotiation, Chiefs really don't have a lot of money to spend on free agents.

because everyone is pretty much at this point.

Contrary to CP popular opinion, there's no rush.

Most teams' cap space is drying up. There will be more cuts coming. More openings opening. FA's left haven't gotten offers that blew their socks off, so it's time to wait and see. The draft is coming here in a couple weeks. Now we wait.

Concerning development imo for a potential Melvin Ingram contract. I was hoping we’d be able to pluck him for $5m. I guess maybe you could + incentives.

RealSNR 04-14-2021 02:16 PM

I never understood why the Texans took him at #1.

Like, has Clowney even been as good as Mario Williams was? I really don't think so.

Who should they have drafted instead? I don't know. Get creative. Take one of the WRs or something. Watkins and Evans were both awesome-looking players coming out of college.

Everybody screamed at the Chiefs to draft Luke Joeckel in 2013, and we didn't. We went with who we actually believed to be the best player in the draft. It was a surprise, too. There were faint whispers about it in the days leading up to the draft, but it wasn't until the day of that people believed it could actually happen.

You don't have to take who everybody tells you to take.

We’re already loaded at DT, but them cutting Hurst is a shocking move.

He’s a good DT that can rush the passer.

I’d probably still see if he wants a 1 year deal for a winner to stick it to LV.
