You are implying that Butler could hit it past the warning track.

Danny Duffy's 4th inning: Single, groundout, HBP, HBP, K on three pitches, groundout.

Oh, and Colon is still hitless this spring.

Duffy is done. I saw him lose it in one of the games I went to too.

He does not have it as a starter mentally. I just don't see it working out.

Lindys: Royals win Central, beat Cleve ALDS, lose Res Sux in ALCS

Baseball Digest: Royals win Central, didn't list any playoff predictions and I killed 10min in WalMart leafing through it

Not a chance - fresh grounds for an old friend.

I keep hoping Duffy pulls it together.

David Lesky at Pinetarpress had an interesting musing today:

Quote:

Remember last week when I was taking about Brett Eibner and the organization’s unwillingness to promote him last year? I mentioned how sometimes they tell you things without telling you things. Another way this organization (and probably all others honestly) tells you things is through the reporters who are with the team day in and day out. One common murmur I feel like I’ve been hearing a lot is about Danny Duffy and his future. It seems like there’s not a ton of positive thoughts surrounding the lefty. You kind of get the impression that the organization isn’t thrilled with him. I get that to some extent. They had hoped he’d be a number two or three starter and he’s supposedly fighting for the fifth starter job (though I don’t think he’s really being considered). Hearing all this, you have to wonder if the Royals might not trade him at some point this spring to a team needing a reliever. The Marlins would fit that, though I doubt they’d trade Marcell Ozuna at this point. I don’t know. It’s just one of those feelings you get. But keep an eye on this.

Trade him now

Re: Lesky, I think an even better comp than Eibner last year was John Lamb. Lamb was putting up good numbers in Omaha but the Royals wouldn't call him up when Vargas went down in June (he was briefly on the bench for a doubleheader as emergency depth, IIRC).

That told you volumes about what they thought of him, and that they didn't want to expose his flaws to the ML, therefore depressing his trade value. So they were able to package him to Cincy for Cueto.
