Agreed....Defense was much better this time.
Lucas played probably his best game this year....

Love it. If they can somehow eek one out on Saturday, it would be huge.

Huge doesn't even get close to describing it.

Landen Lucas whipped pussy this game :). /troll

Seriously though, it's nice to have Lucas earn his minutes today. Biffed a couple but cleaned up the boards which normally kills us against these fools. And he looked reasonably proficient on offense.

Nice Line by Landon tonight:
29 Minutes
4-5 FG
9 Points
16 Rebounds
4 Blocks

He makes the free throw he gets a double double. LOL

Props to one of my most hated Jayhawks....great game by Lucas.

KC_Connection 02-09-2016 08:53 PM

That was like 10 times better than I've ever seen Landen Lucas play. Pretty remarkable stuff tonight from him.

Other than a stretch in the 2nd half, that was also probably the best KU has played since the Baylor game to start the conference season. It certainly helped that WVU couldn't get away with their violent style at AFH, but Perry dominated WVU on the offensive end and Mason looked better than he has in over a month.

If he played at even close to that level consistently, we wouldn't have a 2nd big problem any longer. Great defense tonight.

He was on the post game radio show talking about how Self told him to contest shots. So he did and got 4 blocks. How is it that a 6'11" RS junior is just now being told to go after shots if they've committed. Hell coaches were telling me that in 7th grade and I was a 6'3" barely athletic white kid.

Landen my man! LOL

Best game as a Jayhawk, best part about it was he HUNTED for blocks tonight and STILL got rebounds. Maybe he was afraid to do that before in fear of giving up rebounds.

BWillie 02-09-2016 10:09 PM

KCConnection, about time you give Perry his due. He's marginally better at defense this year, no he's never gonna be a great defender, but along with his increased offensive prowess and all around offensive game hes having a great year. Even when this team was playing bad, Ellis was playing okay. He's been the most consistent player this year, which yeah, isn't a good thing but nonetheless

Ceej 02-09-2016 10:28 PM

I've hated on the guy but great game by Landen.

If he could play as well as he did tonight KU may get past the first weekend of the tournament.

Bambi 02-09-2016 10:33 PM

Good win.

Perry Ellis is a very good offensive player. He was a good offensive player two years ago, he was a very good one last year, and he's continued to be one this year. I've always acknowledged that.

Not really. He's still very much the same soft, one-dimensional player who plays no defense that he's always been. There's no real way around that fact as much as we like his offense.

I still have no idea where that came from, but I liked it. He doubled his block rate in one game. I mean, it's still virtually nothing for a guy his size, but we'll take it.
