Fasting has become pretty easy for me. Last meal was a salad at noon yesterday. My stomach was growling a little this morning, but now I'm not feeling that hungry. I'm getting ready to go home for lunch, but I think I'm going to wait until tonight to eat anything.

Doesn't fasting slow down your metabolism?

I don't think sitting on a toilet counts.

No. At least, not in the short periods that we are doing it for. If it were extended for days and days and days, then yes, it could. But not in shorter cycles.

Even if it DID, you'd still be more fat than if you weren't; it just might not be at the expected rate.

I ****ing despise it, but if it gets you off your ass and helps you get your diet in shape, more power to you.

I started a new job and it's pretty much making me a weekend poster. This is the only thread I'll usually be in during the week.

My job has put me in a position where I'm not eating until 1pm every day. So the trick is not coming home and overdoing it out of some sense of entitlement. Tonight was an 1100 calorie night. Last night was worse.

I'm doing fine at work. Stomach growled less today than yesterday and will growl less tomorrow. I'm going to have to figure out how to come home and not go ****ing crazy.

Luckily though, even going crazy I'm at 1500-1800 a day. I only eat 500 calories up until 6pm.

End of the day is always my problem time. I always seem to eat 2 or 3 times as much then as I do the rest of the day.

Yesterday was a bad one for me. I'm trying to shift myself back to nighttime sleep (been sleeping days for a while) to help myself out. Part of the way to do that is to drag my ass out of bed after 3 or 4 hours, drag my ass through the day and then crash several hours than earlier. Which I did yesterday. Unfortunately it ended up being a hellish day at work, so I put in around 12 hours in the studio...on 4 hours of sleep. I started running out of gas around 8 o'clock last night (hour 7), knew I had another 4 or 5 hours to go, so I ran out to find something to keep me up. Ended up downing an entire bag of cheese chex mix (around 1100 calories by itself...) some chocolate chip cookies, and a couple half-sandwiches from target (turkey and egg salad) over the next few hours. Roughly 3 times the calories I took in combined for the rest of the day. It didn't do anything for me physically - it was a psychological thing. Either way, I made it through the day, and I managed not to gorge on fast food, which is what I usually do when I'm under the gun on the job.

It's also what I usually do when I finish a job - a celebratory meal, as it were - and it's going to be a little weird not doing that this time. I finished one job yesterday and will finish another one tomorrow, but no Culvers for me.

Just finished running 25 minutes. Hard as hell, especially the last 5. Did 40 push-ups, too, as my exhaustion test.

Try fresh fruit next time. 3 apples would probably have the same effect.

Been there, done that. When I'm tired at work or don't want to be there or have a very long day or a daunting project, then I tend to eat. It's like a compensation or a reward for myself. This part of this day sucks, so I'll make up for it by eating. Not sure why eating shitty, unsatisfying junk food is a "reward" in my brain, but somehow it is.

Like GC said, apples should accomplish the same thing, but there's something about that vending machine junk or the soda that worms its way into my psyche as a reward or compensation for a tough day.

It may not be good for you, but I think it's the aspect of indulging in something you enjoy after enduring something you don't.

What do you despise about it? Have you done it?
