You don't see that everyday.... miss the ft, get the rebound and drive it right in for the slam dunk.

check out this final score from the ohio valley scoreboard box.... Eastern Kentucky 158 Cincy Christian 119

Pretty awful game. One of the worst shooting performances from three in KU history. Releford might as well as not have been there and EJ's head wasn't in the game at all. As for positives, Withey had a decent game and Ellis should off some nice offensive moves. They also shot 86% from the line which could be important if they can sustain that in close games throughout the year.

That game also reminded me a bit of this shitty home game four years ago against UMKC (a game in which they were tied at half before eventually grinding it out for a win): http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=283212305

It took a while for that team to get it figured out (went on to lose at Sprint Center vs. Cuse and UMass) and I suspect it will take a while for this one too.

Finally,.... a rebuilding year. Not impressed at all with the game plan, and I already see the effects of manning leaving.

KC_Connection 11-09-2012 09:27 PM

Did losing Manning cause them to miss 20 threes?

Don't sweat it Hawkers, just consider this a perfect coaching opportunity for Self to beat the outside shooting out of the team early this year.

Blame Self.

Ku doesn't rebuild, they reload. And Manning leaving had nothing to do with this performance. I expected KU to look sloppy early on this season. It will take some time with all the new faces.

Typical sluggish start to the season.

No worries.

Pretty cool that a 6 ft 4 inch guard that is lightening quick w a 40 inch vert is so content just chucking up threes and afraid of contact of any kind

Yes, I would much rather have everyone chucking 3s all game and go 1-19 than takes smart shots.

You cannot possibly hold your same opinion after watching that clown show. Its almost like the team said "okay Laz, we'll try it your way" and ended up looking like complete shit against a directional school.

It will take him a while to get comfortable driving into traffic, always does. I just hope he figures it out this year. It took Tyshawn until his senior year to be able to finish, and EJ still hasnt figured it out.

The fate of this team might be in Tharpe's hands. Kind of amazing to think that the the rotation will consist of: 4 forwards (Withey, Ellis, Traylor, Young), 4 wings (Releford, McLemore, White III, Adams, but likely one of them wont last through conference play), 1 combo and 1 point.
