Nice...

Archie Bunker 01-23-2009 07:05 PM

Mort saying he has spoke with 5 sources.

1 says deal is near

1 says Shanahan is Clark's target

1 Chiefs official says it doubtful it's Shanahan

Then went on to discuss how secretive Clark is and talked about other candidates.

Maybe you can supply a link or something since you're so close the situation.

You must have missed Bowlen saying he prefered ShanaCAN not going to KC.

Probably due to the fact that is has been 10 days since Pioli's has been hired so why the long wait unless they had a candidate signed sealed and delivered.

Scott Pioli: "Since my arrival last week, Herm and I have had several conversations as part of my overall evaluation of the football operation," Pioli said in a statement. "After careful consideration, Clark and I felt that it was best to make a change. What I conveyed last week in the press conference I still believe to be true -- Herm is a great man and a tremendous football coach. He respects the game and the league, and he is passionate about his players and his craft.

"Over the course of this last week, I have also spent time meeting and visiting with most of the assistant coaches, and I will continue to do so over the next several days. All of the coaches from last year's staff, with the exception of one, are under contract through the 2009 season."

Isn't it just barely possible that Pioli is telling the truth here?

I love how all of a sudden the media is rushing out to their sources FOR THE CHIEFS FOR ONCE.

I don't know what relevance that would have one way or the other.

Here's one thing I DIDN'T miss:

But ultimately, most of his sentiments were saved for Bowlen. As he mentioned the owner's name, Shanahan had to pause more than once to collect himself.

"It's tough because he's a great friend," he said. "He'll always be my great friend. The best owner in sports. I appreciate every opportunity he gave me to be successful. You have to make tough decisions in any organization, and Pat made a tough decision. . . . I've got no problem with it."

NFLN just said that shanahan is not in the running for Chiefs HC

kcpasco 01-23-2009 07:13 PM

All this speculation and having reporters running around like chickens with their heads cut off make me want to high five Pioli.

More of what I was looking for. One of my best friend's is a life long Donkey fan and he is close to the edge ready to jump if the Rat lands in KC.

The relevance is, he was FIRED by that so-called loyal friend. He owes Bowlen zilch now, friendship or not. What better way to say **** you and to show Bowlen how much he screwed up than to accept the KC job and kick the Broncos asses every year. Remember, revenge, is a dish, best served cold.
