It was a facetious comment, or are you really THAT oblivious.

Give him a couple of real receivers, mark my words he will be a MVP candidate.

Instead of being drafted by (still) one of the worst organizations in football - one so inept, it had a coach at that time who jeopardizes a number one overall draft pick's career??

Indeed.

At least he's dealing in reality. This vaunted majority you cite here, which is just a reeruned vocal minority stuck in narratives of the past, spends their time beating their meat to dreams of everything on the entire team being different, from ownership to management to coaching, but above all at quarterback.

You can't even discuss improving the line and receivers because of their naked speculation that either 'Alex needs the best line and receivers EVER ASSEMBLED to succeed' or 'we could have the best line and receivers ever and Alex would squander it all.'

Alex is STAYING, Reid is STAYING. Dorsey is STAYING. Clark is STAYING. Changes are coming at receiver and on the line. You can choose to pout about these things, or to insist that they doom the organization, . . . or you can accept reality.

While I acknowledge that there are 2-3 who yell more and louder and more obnoxiously than necessary, I legitimately think the majority here, including those named as CP's best football minds, are pretty dissatisfied with Smith and/or his contract. I don't believe it is just a "vocal minority".

On the other hand, I also acknowledge that the constant complaining is not fun but, as I said earlier in this thread, I understand it and I think the Chiefs have earned a great deal of discontent and complaint. I try not to complain incessantly (what good would it do, anyway?) but I am personally frustrated and disappointed by the Chiefs' decision to bring in yet another back-up QB and shackle themselves to him for 4 years minimum. If we are discussing the QB or the offense, I expect there will be a lot of complaint.

Not sure if you are lumping me in with your vocal minority but on the topic of reality and longevity- yes, I've already recognized long ago that Smith will be here at least 4 years (2 down, 2 to go). That is actually one of my complaints- the amount of time the Chiefs will waste and not even bother trying to find an elite QB. How could they when they have so much invested in Smith? All of which explains my personal boycott of the Chiefs and my reduced activity here at Chiefsplanet. I'm just not interested in watching the Chiefs spin their gears. It's more annoying than entertaining for me.

Anyway, I hope I haven't personally diminished your experience here. You're definitely one of the good guys and are entitled to enjoy the Chiefs as you will, whatever their decisions.

CP's best football minds...

sorry, no offense, it just struck me as funny.

I think Trent is a good person - sort of a dork, let's face it - but he did pull the wool over the entire NFL eyes IMO - certainly not nearly as good as he got credit for being.

Um, you obviously haven't been around here long. If I handed out rep, you'd get a '-1' with a :shake: for that.

But yes, I want 2 back to back Super Bowl winning QBs. They've won 3 playoff games in my lifetime. 0 for the last 20 years.

It can be a HOFer followed by a one and done kinda guy, or vice versa, doesn't matter.

But the Chiefs better ascend to the top of the heap, and quickly, or else the NFL is gonna lose me completely. I'm tired of watching the same bullshit, year in year out, the only break in the monotonous stream being real dumpster fires like 2008 and 2012...

Try to cut him some slack IMO, Steve... I've actually seen Borracho be MUCH worse, lately he seems to have that resigned to whatever vibe about him.

We've ALL been disappointed of that there is no doubt, it just that we all have our little differences about why... yet all of those reasons are interconnected no matter how much all of us may want to deny it.

I used to pretty much ignore borracho, "same old shit from some guy that rarely posts and when he posts its the SOS"... yet, with the help of my handy "rearview shades", he wasnt all wrong, just some wrong.

Personally, its time to admit wrongs for me... not only here at this joke, but in my real life... 43! it clarifys things, I've seen the best of things, most of my most studly activities have ceased, all I can do now is try to burnish those achievments lol.

In short, Steve...pay no attention to this post, I'm drunk and having a good time/rambling :hmmm:

His numbers were as good as Peyton Manning's for 3 years.

He was never that good. He had Tony G, Priest and an amazing Oline.

His playoff record was 0-1.

Watching that Line kick out on screens was art, a masterpiece.

It's over now.

End of story.

Trent Green was also an 8th round draft pick.

Alex Smith was 1st overall almost a decade ago.

Glad Alex is as good as an 8th rounder. They dont even have 8 rounds anymore.

I have a feeling he's really going to turn it on in year ten! That's when a lot of young guys finally start to "get it".

And we will have 10 more 1st round picks on the offensive line.
