I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. EB deserves a shot somewhere, it'll likely be with a team like the Browns though in the end.

He's been OC of the Chiefs for less than two seasons and was given the gift of Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce while learning under Andy Reid. Before that, he was below average in his one stint as a head coach at Colorado.

I'm not against the guy at all, but I think it's hard to say he 'deserves' a shot.

Rhule would have been my first choice if I was a GM and looking to hire from the college ranks. Has coached all phases of the game and has improved his personnel significantly everywhere he has been. I think it’s a good hire from them. Also glad EB will still be around for our sake.

FloridaMan88 01-07-2020 10:02 AM

I see Al Golden and Greg Schiano with Matt Rhule.

It's one thing to turnaround a downtrodden collegiate program where expectations are low, but that doesn't necessarily translate to success at higher profile jobs.

Also Ruhle was 0-2 against Oklahoma this year and his team was non-competitive in the Sugar Bowl against Georgia.

Also, we know Andy has a lot of pull in that offense. It’s probably hard for other teams to know exactly what EB’s contribution is. I’m not saying he isn’t a contributor, but how do you understand exactly what he brings to a situation that will be successful with almost any NFL-caliber OC?

smithandrew051 01-07-2020 10:04 AM

I heard earlier that Kellen Moore might get a few interviews. Maybe the end of the Cowboys season killed his hype. I bet he would be a very good college HC.

Zac Taylor is 36 years old and had never been a coordinator in the NFL. He got a job bc of Sean McVay.

Kliff Kingsbury had Patrick Mahomes and got fired at Texas Tech. He’s failed upwards.

Adam Gase has been a goddamn catastrophe and still continues to be in NY. He only got jobs bc of Peyton Manning.

Im not trying to be that guy, but at some point you have to wonder if this is a race thing.

HAHAHAHA

JFC, the Giants are in full panic mode if that is true.

Garrett definitely fits into the category of recently fired/dismissed HC's who need a few years of rehabilitation at the coordinator level before they are deserving of another HC job consideration.

True plus Nagy\Pederson's resumes weren't any better than EB's.

Taylor piggybacked on McVay's being's labeled 'boy genius.' Kingsbury on Mahomes. And Gase is still living off his Peyton Manning glow.

But how many coordinators have also paid their dues working around other talented HCs who also haven't gotten their opportunity yet? Black or white? I'm sure a lot.

I don't doubt for a second that there may be some unconscious (or even conscious) element of racism in this and that's part of what the Rooney Rule is designed to correct.

Top this in the stupid hire category...

Feel like he's more qualified than pederson was. And pederson has been outstanding. It is totally bizarre to me that Reid's tree, which has been wildly successful, gets passed up while bellichicks shitty tree keeps getting hit after hit after hit.
