Should be a hell of a game. Chiefs are going to be hungry for revenge and pride while the Bengals are going to want that notch in their belt and know that Burrow's rookie contract is up next year so it's going to be time to pay up.
Pray, chant, sacrifice a chicken, do rain dance or whatever is your thing for Patrick's ankle. |
Brrrr might be getting the Brady treatment, rarely getting sacked, never taking bad hits, yet with subpar OL, and if you @me and say but but regular season, I won't respond.

A healthy Mahomes means the game can be won because of him. A 75% of Mahomes would be good enough against any team...except the Bengals who scheme and have had confused him three straight games when he was healthy. He needs to be able to dance around the pocket, slide to either slide, use his back leg to make all the crazy throws he can make and take off with speed to pick up first downs when needed the most. A one legged PM is not the same and the Bengals will exploit that even more. Expecting him to have a miraculous recovery with an injury that sidelines players for upwards of 2-3 weeks, let alone a QB who relies upon his legs, and that he won't miss a beat is very wishful thinking, IMO. Even for Andy Reid. And while I don't know the weather forecast for Sunday night, any type of cold, wet field doesn't help him either.
This game is going to have to be won by the defense which is going up against the hottest team in the league with the QB playing better than anyone else right now, has confidence and has weapons the Chiefs defense has trouble matching up against. Especially with Spagnoula's vanilla defense which lacks LB'er play on either side of Bolton and not a good enough pass rush to protect the secondary. And fans who keep saying the Bengals can't protect Borrows with an injured and inexperienced offensive line haven't been watching them play lately |
Think we’re gonna see a lot of this on Sunday. And it’s the right choice. They’re gonna be doing a lot to defend the middle of the field (Kelce).

Some CP guys really had it tough in high school. Burrow causes flashbacks. |
In my opinion the biggest hurdle for KC to overcome will be the mental one. From an overall talent perspective these two teams are pretty close. If KC loses it won’t be because they were just overmatched. Outside of the rookies and Toney a large number of these players have lost three straight to the Bengals and that has to make an impact in some ways. They had the regular season matchup this year circled since the schedule came out.
If there was any game they would be the most prepared for mentally it was that one. Yet they lost. We can blame the Kelce fumble, the missed Butker kicks etc.. but at the end of the day the Bengals also left points on the board as well and while KC could have won, they didn’t. At some point that takes a mental toll on players. They need this win to break this streak of failure against the Bengals. |

Here’s that defense. Take the damn checkdown and let your RB get YAC and have a chance to win 1v1. McKinnon can win those matchups.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">the bengals were sending their DBs from some crazy depths and i don't think allen saw a single one coming.<br><br>mike hilton had four pressures in the game ... on five pass rush snaps <a href="https://t.co/AGoZ4VkirU">pic.twitter.com/AGoZ4VkirU</a></p>— Steven Ruiz (@theStevenRuiz) <a href="https://twitter.com/theStevenRuiz/status/1617439517702782977?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 23, 2023</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Also these plays will come in handy on first down: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Kadarius Toney has added more than just a shifty presence to KC's offense. Just think if we beat Bengals.
Lost when we had Tyreek, but win without him. The receipts we all kept all offseason will be wild to see. |
