Kody Cook is apparently practicing today. Hard to imagine after watching that injury. I am absolutely rooting for this kid to start against TCU. I think we have a much better shot with Cook getting the ball into the end-zone than with Joe Hubener. We are going to need lots of TD's just to make the game respectable against TCU

Honestly, I am not feeling it. I don't think K-State is going bowling this year. I'm just disappointed that they still keep trotting Hubner out there while wasting Delton's year by having him sit on the bench doing nothing.

He's been injured. Four of top five QB's injured for all/some of the season. Hubener is all they have.

WilliamTheIrish 11-15-2015 07:57 PM

Bazooka Joe, while a problem, is not THE problem. This team hasn't stopped a Big XII offense this season. The defense, the defensive coaches and the recruiting suck balls.

Forget Hubes. He's done enough to win several games.

Snydz needs to be in the crosshairs for this debacle.

I know, I didn't mean to come across as Hubener as the MAJOR point, it just makes our offense somewhat one dimensional. Joe just isn't the natural dual-threat QB that makes our offense go.

It doesn't help him that the offensive coordinator is mentally challenged, a defense that couldn't defend a wet paper tiger, and a coach that prefers to recruit 5* heart with 2* talent.

It's just been a frustrating season, to say the least.

KevB 11-15-2015 08:46 PM

Was a thin team to start, but injuries put them behind the 8 ball and there's been no recovery. The bend but don't break defense that has been frustrating, but kept them in games in years past, has been broken numerous times this year.

notorious 11-15-2015 08:54 PM

Actually, they don't have anyone to make big plays off the ball control. They've always been a jab, jab, UPPERCUT team. Nobody explosive to throw a knockout punch.

Honestly, who on this team would start on any other non-KU Big 12 team? Offensively, I'd say Whitehair, Gronk, maybe Risner (has he even been good? I know he was supposed to be) and that's about it. Defensively, I'd say Britz and that's about it. Guys like Lee, Shelley & Prewitt have the talent to, but they're still young.

So unless I'm forgetting someone (or you want to count special teams), that's 3 guys I would take to start on any decent/good teams. We can talk about injuries all we want (and they have been bad this year), but those look a lot worse when you have little talent to start with and zero depth. This season was lost 2, 3 years ago when this staff decided it would rather take a vacation in the offseason while every other school in the country is out recruiting.

I'm tired of hearing about our amazing walk-on program and how hard they all work. I love Snyder and all he's done, but I also think it's time for a change.

This defense is Tim Tibesar level awful. They lack speed, size and athleticism. This, statistically, could end up being the worst HCBS Defense in his history at K-State. Tom Hayes should be strung up by his balls and beaten for the type of D being played this year. In years past, we have been able to mask his shit Defensive schemes with our Ball Control Offense. Now that the O is bad, the ugly on the D has really been exposed.

What really ****ing pisses me off is the fact that there are no more excuses. The Stadium upgrades & Facilities are at the top of the B12. The problem is that he has far too many slugs for Asst Coaches who REFUSE to get off their lazy old asses to recruit. The bigger problem is that HCBS REFUSES to fire any of them. It's sad to me when I see more light at the end of the tunnel for the MBB Team than I do FB.

Wow. Some of you have lost your minds.

Dude will be 77 next year. You think maybe his age, and our mediocrity is being used against us in recruiting? It's not like we are pushing a guy out in his prime. He's got 2 years max left at K-State, and I'm just suggesting he leaves after this season, before he sets the Program behind any further. He has NEVER fired an Assistant Coach - EVER, and he needs to fire at least half of these lazy/worthless assholes immediately. In the past, he's been able to find them jobs elsewhere to relive himself of the Albatross. Now, he has a bunch of hangers on that couldn't get another D1 Coaching job at this point - either due to their age, or complete ineptitude.

We have unprecedented (during HCBS's tenure) shit going on inside of our Program right now. Our recruiting is a shit show. If you can't see what's happening to this Program, then I can't/won't spend the time trying to help you figure it out.

Let's just go down this path. Here is the 2016 Schedule. Let's assume everyone comes back and is healthy next season, and we don't sustain any major injuries at key positions. Find me 6 wins in that schedule and I will kiss a fat lady's ass:

@Stanford (9-2-16)
Florida Atlantic (9-17-16)
Mo State (9-24-16)
@TCU (TBA)
@OU (TBA)
@BU (TBA)
@ISU (TBA)
@WVU (TBA)
UT (TBA)
TT (TBA)
OSU (TBA)

It was absolutely dumbassery of Paul Rhodes to try to run the ball like that. It's what, 1:30 left in the 4th quarter, you're up by 3, and K-State has 2 time outs, they thought it was a great idea to run the ball. Hell, you take a knee, make K-State burn those time outs, and it would have been 4th down with what, probably 30 seconds left give or take, and punt it deep in their territory.

Nope. Fumble. Excellent field position for K-State. Bada-bada, bing, TD, K-State, tie game. Then another ISU fumble, bada-bada, bing, FG. Game.

Quote:

The Iowa State Cyclones have fired coach Paul Rhoads, effective after the season, athletic director Jamie Pollard announced Sunday.

Rhoads, who was informed of the decision by Pollard on Sunday morning, will be on the sideline as the Cyclones finish the season Saturday at West Virginia.

The team will meet Sunday afternoon to address the change, and Rhoads and Pollard will address the media on Monday.

The Cyclones (3-8, 2-6 Big 12) blew a 35-14 halftime lead Saturday at Kansas State and lost 38-35.

Rhoads went 32-54 in seven seasons at Iowa State, guiding the Cyclones to bowl appearances in three of his first four seasons. Iowa State's win in the 2009 Insight Bowl marked its first bowl victory since 2004.

He posted notable wins against Nebraska (2009), TCU (2010) and No. 2 Oklahoma State (2011), which knocked the Cowboys out of the BCS championship race.

Rhoads' teams, however, have struggled the past three seasons, going just 7-26 overall and 4-23 in the Big 12. Iowa State shut out Texas 24-0 on Oct. 31 but squandered big leads the past two weeks in losses to Oklahoma State and Kansas State.

Former Cyclones offensive coordinator Mark Mangino, who was fired by Rhoads in October, took to Twitter after Saturday's loss to Kansas State:

Rhoads' fiery but approachable persona was also a big hit with Iowa State fans, as were his passionate postgame locker room talks.

Iowa State signed Rhoads to a 10-year, $20 million contract before the 2012 season. He is due a buyout of roughly $4.5 million under the terms of that deal.

Rhoads, an Iowa native, served as an Iowa State assistant from 1995 to '99 before becoming defensive coordinator at Pitt (2000-07) and Auburn (2008). He was something of an unknown commodity when he was hired by the Cyclones to replace Gene Chizik before the 2009 season.
