And there's no guarantee he'd be as sharp as he was the last two outings because of that. He wasn't as sharp last night as he was in game 2.

I know but this game is very important because of who is pitching tomorrow. Don't want to go back to KC down 3-2

GloryDayz 10-25-2014 09:14 PM

OK, he'll swing for the fence! OUT!

Our starter failed to make it through 4. That means that bullpen pitcher you normally don't like to see have to get it done. You don't like it, but thats the reality, and you have to deal with it.

Wtf is a setup man?

It's the World ****ing SERIES. You needed an out there. You bring in your best pitcher and go from there. That was embarrassing. Embarrassing. Embarrassing.

For the first time in a VERY long time Alnorth is right about something. That pussy Vargas ****ed us hard tonight.

He's not wrong Hootie. I don't think any manager would've done it. I think some might have brought Herrera in there. I think Yost would've too if he hadn't pitched so much the last couple games.

But either way, it's the 6th inning. At that point you're probably asking Collins to pitch the 8th or 9th inning, and if the game is still tied you're going to Shields or Ventura and really putting yourself in a bind because we're out of guys and you have to save Holland.

'Hamas' Jenkins 10-25-2014 09:14 PM

If Adam Wainwright, who had ****ing surgery to trim cartilage and remove spurs in his elbow yesterday, can hold the Giants to two runs over seven innings with said injury, then so can a healthy James Shields.

Bumgarner just pitched a game where he gave up a HR to Tony Cruz, one of the five worst hitters in baseball, and Matt Adams, who hits lefties as well as Herrera does.

Well, I think if KC wins this game (though unlikely at this point) they are almost certain to win the series. Otherwise, it's still wide open for either team.

At the end of the day i believe between holland, Davis, and kelvin we couldve managed 12 outs

I agree. But it is what it is. I think that's why Ned left Vargas in as long as he did. He was trying to buy outs for the bullpen to bridge. At some point these other guys just have to pitch. You can't win with a three man bullpen.

The problem is that if Bumgarner is average to bad we get 2-4 runs off him. If Shields is average to bad he gives up 4-6. Sure we can hit him, but I don't believe Shields out pitches him.

Frasor can go multiple innings, so he could have started him in the 5th for a clean inning and let him go 5th and 6th

I don't think they need to pitch unless they absolutely have to. There is 3 games left and a long off season to rest. I would have went Herrera in the 5th and if he struggled bring in the other guys. If they still had the lead innings 7-8th would be Davis and Holland to finish it out.

Well it's easy to win arguments when you use hindsight. Maybe it was the right move. I can certainly see the logic of it. Just use your best guy and get out of it. But then you're only through 6 innings, you basically only have Collins and Herrera left to get you through the 9th if the game remains tied... and if it's still tied then, you're probably going to have to burn an extra starter, with your offense facing Affeldt/Romo/Casilla.

It was a tough situation either way. This was not a no-brainer call by any stretch. The bullpen was already stretched out and in a tough spot.

Heard earlier today that Herrera was going to be rested because he was getting worn down, but during the pregame, they claim Yost said the reliever were all available. Seems now he may be resting Herrera, that's why Finny is out here in the 7th.

KCCHIEFS27 10-25-2014 09:23 PM
