He signed for 25k more than he had agreed to with the Royals... in a “take it right now or it’s gone” call from the Braves. They knew the Royals’ number and hopped over it.

Probably from their illicit work in Latin America and all the favors they were throwing at the buscaros.

Do you know the Royals history with Acuna? He was one of the signings stolen by the Braves after he had made an agreement with the Royals iirc.

Looks like we're going to have a rain delayed start.

Gonna be fireworks in the Braves/Marlins game in the meantime. First pitch of the game and they nailed Acuna with a 97 mph fastball. He was going for a 4th straight game with a leadoff homer. Looked seriously hurt there for a minute.

Why? Perez is only two and a half years older, under control for about the same amount of time, and is 10 times the defensive catcher. I don't think the Royals would do it. The whole face of the franchise thing aside. Sanchez is definitely a better overall hitter but Perez hits for power and plays great defense. It seems like people don't ever understand how highly Dayton values defense.
