I'm still not quite sure Geno is going to end up being a true franchise QB. I wouldn't feel any better with Geno at QB as I do with Alex right now. I don't expect Geno to ever be a top 5 QB. After all, that is the goal for the Alex Smith haters, right? Can't win without a top 5 QB? He played a really, really, really good game against NYJ (for a rookie) where he let his receivers make plays by throwing excellent passes...but that doesn't mean he's making Aaron Rodgers' esque reads. He definitely should have been the 1st QB off the board...and I think EJ has done really well, too.

Either way...meh. I'm just happy the Chiefs have a team that is set up really, really, really well for the playoffs. This team is the very definition of a team that wins when it gets cold.

That being said...we better pray for it to be -20 again in Denver because that team just looks like it's going to be impossible to stop unless the weather gives the rest of the AFC an assist.

Further proof stats are a bad measure of QB play.

This is getting rich.

Stats are for losers!

(Except when they help push your agenda)

Alex Smiths first 3 starts:

0-3
52% comp
351 yards passing
0tds
8ints

ROFL

Alex didn't even throw a touchdown pass his rookie year until the very last game of the year.

Maybe if people weren't writing off a rookie QB three games into his career, simply because he's thrown more INT's than TD's - you wouldn't see these comparisons.

But hey, he's 2-1 - and according to CP, that's all that matters.

I guess I am just not confident that a team that can't run the football is built to win in the cold.

Eh, I have been using stats today to support my beliefs as well but really all I care about is the ability to win games which I think Alex has.

That is something I have stated since day one. The only stat that matters is wins.

Sure Geno is 2-1, he should be 1-2 barring a ridiculous penalty and in the end IMO he wont have a better career than Alex and that is what the premise of this whole debate was supposed to be.

You have no clue how Genos career will unfold.

If the only stat that matters is wins, the rest of that means nothing.

That's like stating KC won the game against Clevland in 2002 because of a total team effort.

You are correct, lets see how many games he wins. He can have the freebie.

And for the record he has been better than I expected especially given the team he is on.

I still think shit goes downhill very quickly.

That is my opinion.

Hey maybe I will be wrong about Geno just like you will be about Alex. :harumph:

In the next 2-3 years, Geno does. not. have a better chance of taking his team or this team to the playoffs and making some hay... than Smythe.

That's all I need to know to not. give. a. ****. about Geno.

I want to win NOW, and develop our future star along the way... the two are NOT mutually exclusive and NEVER were.

For those who want to continue to bemoan our not taking him, please be my guest, i'm not standing in your way or begrudging you your choice... but in the end, its pointless and you're all just pounding your heads into a brick wall.

And while you're doing that, you might be missing out on something pretty cool that's already going on in KC.

On my honor, this is the last time i'll ever post about Geno, so sick of it I could puke... for the rest, please carry on, no harm no foul.

I don't think OTWP's measuring stick for Alex will be his regular season record.

I have an opinion on it. Its just like you have no clue how Alex's career in KC will end up but you have an opinion on it.

I laugh when people compare the 2013 NFL to even the 2005 NFL or more laughably, the 1998 NFL (with Peyton Manning).

The league is so swayed towards passing now rookies come in all of the time and put up huge, huge numbers. Different league now. Passing league through and through.

You cannot compare NFL QBs like Peyton Manning's rookie seasons to guys like Andrew Luck. It's ridiculous, and doesn't even come close to telling any sort of story. Same with Alex Smith.

Who said it would?

I love all the fatalist here.

Alex has a 1-1 playoff record.
