I never said Luongo played that well in this game. That was probably one of the reasons.

Let's simmer it down a bit, I don't think he was trying to downplay the win. He's just saying Miracle on Ice was bigger, and I would agree. Just as Canada's win over the Soviets in 1972 was probably bigger than this.

Well, it's huge for Canada and if the US couldn't win it, I'm glad it was Canada that did. Congrats

This was a great historical event. Canada deserved it. Good shit.

Just think Crosby and the Penguins were [thisclose] to moving to Kansas City

You really think KC had a legit shot? I think Lemieux used KC as leverage.

The Penguins would've moved to Hamilton before they moved to KC... take heart though, the Thrashers are for sale and whoever gets them isn't going to have to pay Ilya Kovalchuk 110 million dollars! Great for a franchise in a new market :D

Canada was the far superior team, it's not even debatable. That doesn't mean the victory by the US doesn't count, but Canada had way more talent.

i think all the bastards that make money playing in the U.S.A but turn around and stab us in the back by helping cananda beat us should be pummeled in the nuts with a frozen sea bass.

Both self proclaimed "WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP" winning events, but other than the NFL going to Mexico once, England a few times it's just the USA who plays in the league (NFL Europe is just that) Still can't understand how a ONE country sport creates WORLD championships???
As for baseball, only 2 countrys playing for the "WORLD SERIES" are teams from Canada, and USA,
Again, How do you get "WORLD" champions from this?
Our boys played hard, gelled in 2 weeks, and beat people from OTHER COUNTRIES AROUND THE WORLD.

I may hate hockey, but don't be dissen us cuz we smoked yer azz's. I can only wonder how much friggen crow would have been slug on this board if Your Red/white & Blue boy's had won.

BTW
Joking or not all them "F**K Canada" remarks a few pages back can be shoved right back up the chit chutes they came out of 4321

If Canada is so great why do most of their players work in the U.S.?

Sunday's game drew a higher overnight rating than every World Series game since 2004 (including every game of Yankees/Phillies last year), every NBA Finals telecast since 1998, and every NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four game since at least '98.
Excluding the NFL, the 17.6 overnight for the game is the second-highest of the year for any sporting event, behind only the Texas/Alabama BCS National Championship Game in January (18.2).

This is up 46% from the 2002 USA/Canada showdown, and will very likely be the highest-rated hockey game since 1980. The share means that 1 in every 3 Americans with a TV were watching the game. This is, to put it professionally, out of this world.

You want to see something else interesting... when you break it down by individual markets, it's amazing how well it did. It got a 50+ share in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Minneapolis. That means over half of the TV's that were watching TV were tuned to the game.

But also, the game did tremendously well in KC... 12th highest in the country.
