No. It's merely discouraged.

That said, I wouldn't do it anyway. It's extremely unethical, because there is a power relationship between student and teacher that crosses the line of consent. It's too imbalanced of a relationship from the start.

If they were an ex-student, then I guess, but I don't see how you could carry on a relationship with them.

As a side note, I was "dating" a professor at one of my colleges. No ethics problem that I could see as I never took one of her classes.

The thing that just blows me away is the fact that this woman is attractive enough from a purely physical aspect that if she wanted to f*** around she could have went into just about any nightclub and most likely had her choice of several men. Instead she chose to risk her marriage, career, any respect she may have had, and a clean criminal record for this. Just plain stupid.

I have long wondered about the disparity in "age of consent" law. Some states have set it at 16 and others at 18 years. There are parts of Mexico where the age of consent is 12.

Maybe she was just confused.

When I was a TA, I had plenty of opportunities. I never crossed the line. A buddy of mine, though, was both a TA and a bartender. His students and ex-students came into his establishment constantly... and he constantly took them home (I'm actually not sure if he did any current students; he might have had some standard)

It's even more difficult for TAs because it's usually 22-23year old guys and 18-20 year old girls. That's not much difference in age. It's just, as you said, all about the power relationship.

Yup. That marriage is toast either way. But picking up some strange at a bar wouldn't cost a person their job or land them in jail either. And it would not result in the negative publicity. Not saying that I condone cheating either way, but a woman getting some strange outside of work from someone over 18 is obviously the less risky proposition than at work, especially when your job involves minors.
