Oh without a doubt. The history books are being rewritten as we speak.
His hole career & legacy destroyed. & he has no one to blame but himself.
I feel know mercy for Joe. & I was a big fan of his till this story broke.
I am ashamed I defended this guy for the last 10 years. When others said he had to go, the game has past him by. I said they were wrong :doh!:

Looking back, the fact that JoePa had enough of a defective character to refuse to retire while he still had his dignity makes his behavior with this stuff a lot less surprising. Dude is a narcissist megalomaniac.

It's good to be the King.

And it's a hard job to leave, once you've had a taste.

The victims. Or whatever.

That was brutal to watch, and then ESPN had the nerve to drag him back out to talk about it some more.

I'd say he'd be a good person to bring in to clean up all the crap, but he'd probably recruit nothing but WR's :)

I don't fault him for that. He's old, but he's still a good coach. Penn State isn't a powerhouse, but they've fielded some very competitive football teams of late.

I don't think he's a narcissist. I think he has too much pride in his school. He's so concerned about protecting the reputation of the school that he's willing to let something like this slide. It's a shame--he's done so many good things for the program and for college football, and all of that is thrown away because he made one ENORMOUS lapse in judgment. His legacy is tainted, as it should be.

Back to your concerns about the dude that reported the shower room incident and wheter he should have went beyond the reporting of it to Paterno, he was a GA at the time. Perhaps he was rewarded to keep his mouth shut with an assistant coaching job

I think that's an interesting possibility. But that's one thing nobody will ever know for sure. On the flip side, don't know if he was threatened to keep his mouth shut either.

I do question why he didn't refuse to leave the program.

stonedstooge 11-09-2011 07:12 AM

I would like to see Paterno suspended during this time of supposed researching the situation. Truely believe that it would be the right thing to do

As it should be. He failed in his duty as a human.

The more I hear about this the more I get pissed off at the shear amount of stupidity/arrogance involved here. JoePa is looking worse and worse in all of this with his stupid comments and there arent enough shrinks in the world for all the Penn State/JoePa apologists out there.

Braincase 11-09-2011 09:12 AM

My son is 10. This stuff makes me sick. I also know, after thinking about the way these boys were treated, that I am capable of taking a human life. The more I read about this, the more it sickens me. So far 20 (?) young men have come forward? I bet that GA has been thinking about it every day, knowing that he could've done more.

You still have to wonder. What did Joe know and when?

memyselfI 11-09-2011 09:14 AM

I cannot see how they allow JoePope and McQueery on the field on Saturday. As if their continued presence in the Penn State program was not a slap in the face enough when the victims knew of their involvement (or lack their of) in suffering silence. But now it's in the open and they are openly telling the victims their suffering is secondary to football. It's really surreal.

SuperChief 11-09-2011 09:22 AM

My question is this: why is this going down at Penn State? Who do they think they are, Notre Dame??
