That's the kind of missed opportunity that can come back to haunt you.

This team might have set a record for having RISP with no one out and not scoring.

Seems like that would have been a good time for a bunt. Oh well. Let's hope that wretched at bat doesn't stick in Lynn's head.

Frazod 10-19-2012 06:47 PM

****.

BigRedChief 10-19-2012 06:52 PM

They have to improve their at bats against Zito. It's BS that they strike out on a high fastball. Zito is not going to throw a high fastball strike. They are swinging at balls way out of the strike zone. just giving away at bats and oppertunitys.

They did the same thing last night against Lincecum. Very poor plate discipline.

Simply Red 10-19-2012 06:57 PM

Carlos Beltran is a downright baller, he's got enormous skill to dial in this time of year. I'd murder a kitten with a Henkel for him to play on the braves.

Its not like this is some secret shit. If you dont have plate discipline ****ing Zito is going to put up zero's.

He's just a champion.

I happened to notice how 'on point' that slide into second was, and that's not always an easy thing. Then I thought, hell he's always on base.

Not sure how he fared in post season last year, i've not looked. But he seems to almost always come through, when i watch. 'The moment' is not too big for him, ever, seemingly. Hats off to him and hats off to this squad. They're hard to NOT pull for.

Frazod 10-19-2012 07:05 PM

Second time through the lineup for Lynn. This is where he shit himself last game.

BigRedChief 10-19-2012 07:05 PM

Holliday showed some plate discipline as opposed to that first at bat anyway. Too bad it didn't translate to hitting the ball.

But if we keep some plate discipline in our at bats, we will get to Zito.

**** you Lynn you one who sucks the penis. GET HIM OUT OF THERE MATHENY

jd1020 10-19-2012 07:18 PM

Gotta love the announcers trying the throw the fielders under the bus.

Sorry, it was a pretty simple play. 1 out, ball hit to the right side of the infield... throw the ball to first.

Frazod 10-19-2012 07:19 PM

****er is absolutely lost now. The called strike was low as well.

Frazod 10-19-2012 07:21 PM

And Lynn butt****s us in the fourth inning yet again. GEE, WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THAT COMING? :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Marcellus 10-19-2012 07:22 PM

Pull him. Lynn falls apart faster than a wet paper bag in the rain.

This is Rediculous

jd1020 10-19-2012 07:22 PM

That was a pretty impressive play by Zito.

Frazod 10-19-2012 07:22 PM

That being said, massive melt down on an easy out started all this crap

OnTheWarpath15 10-19-2012 07:24 PM

Should this team remove its head from its ass and make it to the World Series, it's going to be fun watching Lynn get matched up against someone like Verlander, Fister or Scherzer and only go 3 innings.

Lynn needs to not start another game this year. He's three innings and a nuclear meltdown.

Lynn should NOT have started this game. He is obviously tired physically and mentally, despite throwing well late in the season. This game should have been Joe Kelly's from the start. Sometimes I think this team wins in spite of Matheny.

Frazod 10-19-2012 07:27 PM

That's funny - all the runs unearned, yet it was the pitcher's error that caused them. Hardly seems fair.

Sort of like how they used to win in spite of LaRussa.

I'm thinking Lynn's role is a good mid reliever

OnTheWarpath15 10-19-2012 07:35 PM

Nothing like getting shut down by a guy throwing mid-eighties with little to no movement.

Frazod 10-19-2012 07:35 PM

Even if they lose this game, you have to like their chances to win 1 in SF. SF's offense is horrible.

He is great in a position where he can come in and throw his heat and sprinkle in a second pitch here and there. Problem is, that shit don't play once you get through the order more than once.

I hear you. Kelly scares me a little bit, I can just see him rifling one in the stands. I can't shake the wild thing image. Maybe it's the glasses and the crazy speed.

I'll never count this team out until they're actually out, but I can't honestly say I like their chances on the road against their 2 best pitchers.

Psychologically, they scored a lot yesterday so today they all must feel like worldbeaters so they aren't grinding out good at-bats. Throw in the mix that we are being less patient against a soft-tosser, it's a recipe for disaster.

With Volsong and Cain going for the Giants at home is not an optimal situation. But, we have Carp and Waino going and counting this team out before 27 outs is a bad bet.

In fairness, it's been lacking all season. It seems it's there in ultra-clutch situations, (NLDS Game 5, for example) but otherwise, guys are swinging at anything.

OnTheWarpath15 10-19-2012 08:02 PM

Holliday going for the hat trick. Looks like he's swinging a garden hose.

Simply Red 10-19-2012 08:18 PM

Joe Buck looks like a three way tie between Sally Jesse Raphael, William Macy and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

BigRedChief 10-19-2012 08:27 PM

Swinging at total crap. Striking out on 85 MPH fastballs down the middle. This is the most pathetic at bats I've seen this team take all year. Swinging at a shoulder high fastball thrown by a pitcher than won't throw a fastball for a strike above the knees. All up and down this line up. No damn plate discipline.

OnTheWarpath15 10-19-2012 08:30 PM

Shocking that Boggs gives up a bomb.

The Cards can't hit guys that can't break a pane of glass, it's been that way for a while. Add to that Matheny's "quick hook" taking an inning too long (4 innings too long in my opinion) and that all adds up to an L.

O.city 10-20-2012 09:58 AM

Yep, glad I dropped the coin to drive from KC to STL to watch that POS.

Holliday was awful, didn't have a good swing all night. Descalso striking out in the 2nd was killer as you could see that inning playing out.

On the E by Lynn, there is no way you throw the ball to second in the first place. Wasn't hit near hard enough to turn 2. Lynn btw, is a mental midget.

Beltran had good atbats, Molina is coming around, Freese is Freese in the playoffs.

Damn soft tossing leftie had us all over the place off balance last night. It really was like OTWP said and we were all punchin judie hitters.

Rosenthal is a stud, Mujica was good, Boggs had one bad pitch.

The crowd was out of it after we didn't score in the second. We've all seen how that plays out with this team all too often this year.

I really think we could have turned two on that play, but no one was ****ing covering second base. At that point, eat it and send the ball to first base. Get one out and you're out of the inning.

Anyway, it was a moot point since we couldn't hit our way out of a ****ing paper bag last night.

History says this team will push it to the brink and then somehow someway they will find a way to make good things happen.
2006 the Tigers won early and we went to game 7. We ended up champions in game 5.

Don't count this team out just yet.

I was in ATL for the one and done game. The crowd was insanely loud. They were pumped. The first playoff in Washington since 1933 had those fans pumped up and loud. The Giants crowd was very loud and excited for game 1. How did those turn out?

Crowd noise is not going to effect the Cards. This is a veteran, championship team that has been there and done that. A loud, sellout crowd is not going to shake them in the slightest.
