Have you ever been involved in a street race? If no, gay. If yes. What color were your fingernails? |
My prediction:
Rice is eventually going to plead to a misdemeanor, pay a fine, and cover the costs of the accident. There will be no jail time. One or more of the people hit will sue him in civil court which he’ll either settle or lose. The NFL will wait until he enters the plea to render its suspension which will be 6-8 games and be arbitrated down to 4. This could come before the start of the season or during the season. He then breaks his own record of 26 receptions in the playoffs with 34 (done in only 3 games this time!) on the way to his second Super Bowl. |

I've known other people who were just told to get it sorted. I was hoping to be told the same once I explained why the license had been suspended but the officer gave no ****s. All good... he was within his right to do so. |

And if you were in MO its state law (or used to be anyway) you go to jail driving suspended, no options. Kansas is more variable depending on where you are. |

I would argue Frank Clark having an illegal gun 2x in Cali was a more serious charge and situation. (even though that was bullshit too) |

Very excited to check in regularly on this thread and see tweets, copy/paste facebook posts, links to youtube videos, clips from tv shows posted all posted for the 8th time and dated from yesterday or 6+ hours ago.
Safe bet - if you see something is more than an hour old, in a topic this heavily discussed, it's already been shared. |
Also has anyone mentioned how actually reeruned you have to be lose control in one of those cars?
I wonder if the idiots had the traction control off. |

I can tell you the top speed of any car I've owned over the last 15 years off that little stretch. |

Do you actually and truthfully expect you would be allowed to go home and communicate via lawyer and no one with a badge would, at the very least, come pay you a visit? If so... we have vastly different life experiences we are drawing from. And that is ok. Quote:

I kept pushing it higher and higher because the car was given to me with a Top Speed of 118 mph in the car's computer system. So I said it's time to beat this 118 mph number for the hell of it. Got up to 125 mph and said, "Screw this. Don't wanna die." SLOW DOWN. Chicken, lol |

Stupid life and shit. Been awfully busy. STILL need to put new wheels/tires on it and just haven't found the time to get it done. Hate myself for it. I was a little disappointed with the new steering box (damn thing is stiiiiiiiff; wanted to tighten it up but it feels like driving a tractor now) so I parked it in like August of 2022 and have just gotten the bike out when the weather was right since. And it was developing a fuel pickup gremlin as well that was getting frustrating. Just enough stuff that just talked me out of reaching for the keys. I've done too much to that damn thing to get it close to what I want it to be for me to let it sit in the garage and gather dust like I have. Especially now that boy is 6 is begging "daddy can we drive the racecar to school!?"... Ugh. Feels like I'm starving a unicorn to death or something. |
So Florio said if there's no proof he was driving when the accident occurred then the NFL may not be able to do anything about it? He also said if all suspects in the car plead the fifth the police may not be able to prove who was driving either.
No doubt the nfl will still try to screw us but it does seem like Rice might be facing as big a suspension as people thought. I guess we'll see. |

“In the past, Mr. Rice had rented at least several vehicles,” Coker said. “There were never any driving citations or accidents related to that. The issue that we have right now is we’ve got a totaled vehicle, and we haven’t heard back as to who’s going to pay for that vehicle. And I understand, there’s, you know, kind of speculation back and forth as far as who’s driving. It doesn’t matter. I mean, we’re looking for accountability and to make sure that our business is made whole here.” |

It ain't like he's gonna sign an affidavit for them saying he was the driver to submit to their carrier (or his). And ultimately I'd have to think they'd have some sort of endorsement for these scenarios to protect THEMSELVES. This has nothing to do with Rice's ability to pay for the thing - they're out of a car right now. If they didn't have such a policy, that's on them. And if he presented personal insurance with the appropriate coverages, well he ain't gonna put a claim in just yet on that either. He's gonna wait until the legal process plays out before he cooperates with his carrier there. Cost of doing business for a sports car rental company. Sorry fellas - you were probably charging him 5% of what that sucker was worth for every day he had it out. If you weren't smart enough to use some of that money to protect yourselves from renters doing renter things in your hypercar, well that wasn't real bright. "Drive it like you stole it" is pretty much how people treat rentals. Conduct yourself accordingly if you're on the other side of that transaction. |

OK, I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on tv.... charges that can be a misdemeanor or a felony are called "wobblers".. not hybrids.
Lambos are really fragile when it comes to accidents. I have seen a flat tire cause an incredible amount of damage to one. It doesn't take much of an impact to put cracks in parts that cost an absurd amount of money to replace. I agree with the statements that the rental company should have their own insurance to cover under or uninsured rentals. It is not rare that people do dumb stuff in rentals. Traction control doesn't prevent everything and does help control a car; however, high horsepower cars can create issues for a traction control system due to how quickly things can happen in a short amount of time (especially at high speeds/racing, etc). Electronic Stability Control is supposed to help with this but user input can mess that up. If they shut off the driver aids (they automatically revert to being on whenever you shut off the vehicle) then they were definitely playing with fire. |
Did all you internet sleuths solve this mystery yet? :hmmm:
|
Did Professor Rice do it on the Freeway with a Tire Iron?
|
Did Miss Scarlett do it in the Front Seat with her Mouth?

145ish is as high as I got. The speed and vibration of the car was scary..one ****up and everyone is dead. 100 is about my tops I use when blowing by people now. |

Also, one ****up going 100 mph and everyone is probably dead too. Depends on how severe the ****up is I suppose. |

The 67 camaro has like 200 more HP than that thing but the front end starts to raise up around 100 mph - it's terrifying. Motor isn't straining at all but the things about to take flight because the aero just isn't built for it. That silly little Hyundai would just squat down at high speeds and rode extremely well. Modern cars are awfully forgiving. Which isn't gonna help you much if you smack your Lamborghini into the side of another motorist while trying to pass him on the shoulder. That whole thing looked less like someone lost control and more like they tried to shoot a gap that just wasn't there. It ain't F1, my guy. Putting your nose in there and beating them to the apex doesn't mean they have to give you room... |
Time to change the title. He's not suspected any longer. They know he's a main player.

Rice sent a text to the car company saying “he was involved and would pay for it.”
1. That was ****ing stupid from a legal standpoint. 2. It doesn’t sound like there is confirmation he was the driver, despite being the only one permitted to drive per the agreement. They’ll still need to prove he was driving. Assuming he didn’t send any other stupid texts and he and his friends kept their mouths shut, it will be hard to bury him. I’ll bet they strike a plea deal for some misdemeanor just to mutually get past it (unless there is concrete evidence he was driving). |
He's probably going to admit to driving. The cops can see him getting out of the car. The main thing is he's not busted for guns in the car, nor for alcohol and whatever else in his system.

So WR in 1st round back in play?

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.. hell of a player and every team should use this (and others) as an example of how not to keep your focus.
