Instead of trying to work it out one last time and wait until after training camp to release him, you basically trade a top 5 CB before the 2018 season to get a 2nd rounder in 2019?

Because they obviously thought that he was going to be an issue in the locker room and they didn’t want to deal with it.

People wondering why we aren't getting amazing return for Peters would also wonder why they aren't getting top dollar for a fixer upper house.

We just sold a fixer upper.

You don’t get compensatory picks for players you cut.

I keep seeing this, but that's not a given.

Messier 02-26-2018 09:43 AM

So we know the deal and compensation have been agreed upon and finalized?

How on earth would we not get a 1st rounder a least for a player that we/them would have control over the next 2 years and 3 if you include franchising him.

2 years with one of the best CB's in the game on a rookie contract and that's all we get? If so...fuk that. I'm at a loss for words.

Think the believe is that the Rams with no 2nd this year probably were not willing to trade their 1. On the flip side I still hold out believe that the Chiefs got 1st round value (ie a 3rd, and some picks in 2019 that would be worth a 1) Also not sure if true, but there has been a lot of chatter that this years draft is not as deep or talented as previous years, could be the Chiefs were happy to push the picks until next year.

I disagree completely. We're talking about football here and a very very good football player with 2 years left on his rookie contract. It makes zero sense to make a trade unless we're getting a good value back in return. Otherwise let him ride out his rookie contract and get a 3rd round compensation(he will get paid)

What a shitty monday morning.

He also says he was told over the weekend that things with Peters was really bad and nobody would trade for him.

Classic Fescoe talking stupid. Call the stadium and scream but give them the benfit of a doubt. Effing idiot.

This is called having to acknowledge it's a terrible trade and people should be pissed while also trying to not **** up 610's relationship with the Chiefs, tough spot honestly.

This analogy, what they did would be like selling your fixer upper house for less than the land it sits on is worth.

You don't pick up his 5th year option after next season and he becomes a UFA, he wouldn't be cut.

We dont cut him. Thats their leverage. We will just suspend you and you dont play football this year. Yes, you will get your full salary but you will watch this season from your couch.

I listened and kind of agree. You don't trade arguably your best defensive player if you're trying to win a Super Bowl unless you're just blown away by an offer.

ESPECIALLY after last years fuking sorry group of CB's we put out there, other than Peter's. Outside of Fuller. Who do we have? Amerson isn't a lock.

Now we have another fuking hole to address on defense that was not there before and would have been a strength. So now we can add CB to the list of help we need on defense. With no 1st rounder and limited cap space.

What a shitty monday morning.

We sold him when he came off a year where he didn't even make the pro-bowl and was not far removed from a team imposed suspension.

We sold low. It was his worst season as a pro and the NFL is a what have you done recently league.

Everyone should be mad, you took basically shithole value you took 5 dollars on a 500 dollar bill to get rid of him. Made another hole on the defense in a marquee position.

But several shitty coaches are still here so players are held accountable coaches are not.

What exactly does this tell you if you really really think about it and what it really means.

Not from the Mecca "people should be pissed off view" but from the reality view.

We traded a 25 year old fairly cost effective player who when focused is one of the best at his job.

Then throw in the fact only 2 teams were actually interested.
