There has never been a time, either as a Jayhawks fan for 35 years or a Chiefs fan for 43, where I've enjoyed fans bitching and arguing about the refs or claiming there is some kind of idiotic conspiracy.

It's so boring and dumb.

Just dial down the refs stuff, at least until during/after the game.

This is really a time like no other, at least not in most our lifetimes. Let's try to enjoy it.

Yep, if anything else happens, just remember.........

With Patriots for good or bad, it isn't just the fullback which a lot of teams don't have or Brady being used to cold weather but the team has tended to usually favor hitting/strength over speed.

Eugene Chung and Rodney Harrison kind of examples of some players that other teams may not have prioritized near the end of their careers but I think BB has valued for cold weather/playoff football. They are the sort of players that would play hurt in 0 degree weather and make big hits without flinching.

There is often a tradeoff. Players can have equivalent abilities but one modestly faster player a better at track meet football and others at cold weather playoff football.

I suspect Reid values a fairly traditional balance while BB clearly builds his team for cold weather so at times Patriots are at a speed disadvantage.

That is why in part Patriots fans are more concerned about Hill than other Chiefs opponents.

Put yourself in the Colts gm shoes during the Manning era. Why not build your team with the dome in mind and just hope you get HFA in playoffs. Super Bowl played in warm weather pretty much ever year nowadays.

You're stupid if you believe this.

If what you say is true then there should be little to no difference between a the winning % of favorites/underdogs playing at home or on the road, because after all, it's all about whose the better team. But that aint the case:

Interesting but point spreads are based on attracting money and balancing the payouts. They slide up/down based on the intake expectations. I know you know this.

Fact: Since 2002 only 5.5 % of NFL games landed on the line exactly. What does that tell you?

In my view the links the links aren't really supporting your position. It's good data but not representative of actual games that are played.

We've debated this all day . Let's talk about the game.

Here's the thing.

The Patriots often rough up WR's. The hold Travis Kelce all the time. They do it well, and it doesn't get called.

If our DB's have a primary weakness, it's defensive holding/PI.

The Patriots are going to mug our guys, it's a given. But if the refs are letting them play a little bit because it's the playoffs, our DBs will get to do the same thing.

So while it's not an advantage for the Chiefs, it at least levels the playing field.

A major help for us will be loosely called DPI. If the refs start Hammering Ward and Nelson for DPI it's going to be a long game.

that's all fine and good, but we played a game last week in a snowstorm and scored 31 points and shut the opposing running game down while running wild.

I'm rewatching the game earlier this season, Mahomes missed both Hunt and Hill for easy touchdowns in the red zone on the opening drive. There was maybe a little bit of pressure, but really it just seemed like jitters. Still waiting for that vaunted first-half defense of the Patriots before they inexplicably abandoned what was working.

No kidding, teams not exactly covering half point spreads. Seems less than surprising, and seems to have little to do with the accuracy of the spread

On the drive after the interception, Mahomes missed Kelce pretty open due to feeling some pressure, leading to a field goal. Kelce was definitely not shut down on that route

The last time the Patriots won a road game in the playoffs was the 2006 season at SD.

2015 at DEN (L, 20-18)
2013 at DEN (L, 26-16)
2006 at IND (L, 38-34)
2006 at SD (W, 24-21)
2005 at DEN (L, 27-13)
2004 at PIT (W, 41-27)
2001 at PIT (W, 24-17)[/QUOTE]

That would be because we're always top seed with home field advantage?? LOL

You people with the cheating. It's comical at this point. Even if they did "cheat," WHY do you think every coach holds the paper to his mouth? It's because teams plant lip readers in the stands, per my bookie friend. lol

Meh. I don't think this says anything. Past history of our road woes and our dominance means very little here. KC is a great team and it will be tough.

I think our best shot is experience and grit. We can definitely win, but KC is extremely tough. Great QB too.

What you guys don't get about the Pats is, there is regular season Patriots and there is playoff Patriots. It is a different team during playoffs.

Our road woes are definitely troubling. I think we will play better than the Titans/Steelers away games, but you speak the truth. Stats don't lie.

LOL!! Prepare to be shocked if you really think the Patriots and the GOAT QB/Head Coach are going to lose to a first year QB in the AFC title game BY 20?!!! Hilarious. We might lose. We might win. Either way will not be by double digits.

RaidersOftheCellar 01-17-2019 11:12 PM

I watched part of the game in Miami, and the clock management at the end of the first half was pitiful. No excuse for not at least coming away with a FG. Which ultimately cost them the game.

This is what pisses me off. Only Andy Reid catches shit for this yet I see it all the time even among the most respected coaches.

That mistake is on Brady not BB.

But I do agree sometimes when folks complain about a player or coach for one thing, folks will often not call out others for doing essentially the same thing.
