I have a buddy who doesn’t know shit about crypto who sold all his BTC two weeks ago for XRP and XLM against my advice lol. Probably lost his profit from holding BTC for 3 years in two weeks.

The perils of ethereum receiving addresses. You live you learn

Ninerfan11 12-26-2020 10:31 PM

You don't have to worry about a fedcoin. What you have to work about is the world losing faith in the dollar and China creating a crypto that is tied to their gold holdings. They love surveillance and tracking, and blockchain is the perfect tool. The US is falling behind, fast.

I do not believe so. Not yet. It's silly TA but Christmas money will hit Monday/Tuesday. And a lot of relief money is pre-committed to BTC. That's just word on the street TA. Watch the RSI. If this is worrisome to some, i suggest hedge 1/2 but also consider this run is drawing large institutional buys. New institutions. I think it's $13k undervalued.

Me, but only just a little here and there because it's my online bookie/cardroom's preferred method of deposit.

I've bought maybe $1500 worth since covid started. Funny thing is, I'd have made more money just sitting on it rather than betting.

I'm getting really tired of Bitcoin not being $50,000. I would really like to sleep more, lay around more, drink Slurpees and see if I can become a + handicap in golf.

Worst decision I ever made was NOT putting everything I own in BTC when it was $600.

2nd worst decision I ever made was not selling one of my properties and putting it all on bitcoin when it dropped to 3.3k once I actually had knowledge about crypto.

YOLO Drives FOMO
Devin Ryan, a brokerage analyst and managing director at JMP Securities has attributed the pent-up activity to the phenomenon "fear of missing out," or FOMO, among young investors. "It's all correlated," said the analyst, noting that Millennials, who are eager to get in on gains before the bull market ends, are more versed and interested in crypto and cannabis investments, relative to older generations.

Big news folks

Today the OCC published Interpretive Letter 1174, which explains banks may use new technologies, including independent node verification networks (INVNs) and stablecoins, to perform bank-permissible functions, such as payment activities. Said simply, a bank may use stablecoins (cryptocurrencies designed to minimize the price volatility) to facilitate payment transactions for customers.

In doing so, a bank may issue stablecoins, exchange stablecoins for fiat currency, as well as validate, store, and record payments transactions by serving as a node on a blockchain (INVN).

  • JPMorgan said bitcoin could rally as high as $146,000 in the long term as it competes with gold as an “alternative” currency.
  • Bitcoin’s volatility would need to drop substantially before it can match gold in terms of market value, the bank’s strategists said in a note Monday.
  • JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon once called bitcoin a “fraud” and said he is more interested in blockchain technology than crypto.

I’ve got you in the “I’m an idiot” contest. One of my biz partners asked if we could shift something in the 50k range when BC was in the 6-700 range. I told him “I’d rather wipe my ass and flush that money”. He enjoys sending random figures on where that’d be from time to time.

Meh. In 1997 I spent $4500 on Evel Knievel collectibles.

If I had spent that on Amazon stock instead (and held it) it would be worth something like 4 million today.

Yep.

I *almost* bought more at $5k, $9k, $17k, $23k, and now just bought more at $39k.

There have been plenty of drops. BTC has historically been very volatile, so waiting for a 5% or 10% drop to buy isn't absurd. But over the last few weeks that hasn't been happening. The one blip I missed (and I should have been more ready for it) was a drop from 33 to 27 early Monday morning for a couple of hours.

I wasn't waiting for a monster drop, but there are discounts to be had if you are dilligent.
