What’s the injury situation right now?

What’s Okafor’s situation? Calloway’s?

Rep for any help.

Love that we’ve gone from “Brown will be awesome” to “it’s okay we’ll just pass less” in first week of camp.

An andy Reid led chiefs team, with a phenom Qb, is going to run the ball more?

Yeah color me skeptical

Everybody just has PTSD from the Super Bowl.

Eric Fisher was not a world beater, but he was pretty good and a perfect fit, so we almost never lost with him at LT.

Brown is very good and a decent fit, and that should be enough as well.

My biggest concern remains DE. OL is going to be fine so long as Long returns healthy to help solidify RT.

The Chiefs WILL run the ball more. They are going to be crushing fools in the 4th.

This is the juggernaut team we've waited our whole lives for.

IIRC, Long was the RG when healthy? Why do you think he'll kick to RT?

I agree they're going to run more. Hence the focus on a more physical OL. Hence trying to draft a TE2.

Running the ball in the regular season extends Mahomes longevity (smart).

It also opens up play action so we can use Hill and Hardman's speed more effectively. As we saw last year, if you give them zero running threat, teams can play so soft that it doesn't matter how fast you are.

Lol I agree but remember the Buffalo game last season? If I remember right we run the ball a lot more than the pass so it is possible.

I don’t think we necessarily run the ball “more” this year, but we’ll be so much more effective at it that it will seem that way.

Last year, a run on first down would lead to 2nd and 8. Then 1 or 2 passing downs.

This year, that run on first might lead to 2nd and 3. Then we can still run to pick up the first.

Just being more effective running the ball will lead to more runs, even if we aren’t necessarily shifting the style of our offense. We’ll just have better success and better opportunities on the ground.

GT_34 08-06-2021 08:02 AM

So we'll go into the season with Brown, who hasn't looked good so far, Remmers, who is struggling with a back injury, Niang, who hasn't played a single down in the NFL, and the rotting corps of Kyle Long.

Yikes

I thought that was the Allegretti game where we all thought he was going to be a stud for like 5 minutes because of it. Maybe Kilgore played also.

They both did. That was also when we lost Schwartz early in that game.

I think the line was:

Fisher Allegretti Kilgore Wylie Remmers

And they ****ing dominated too.

All indications from the clips we have seen is that the line is going to be fine.

A recap of last season. We were 14-1. Rested game 16 (week 17) and lost. Lost in the Super Bowl vs Tampa 31-9. A game that was 21-6 at half, and very easily could've/should've been 7-6 at half and possibly a much different game in the second half.

Tampa stands pat for 2021. Chiefs overhaul "weak" areas for 2021.

Stay tuned.

Good assessment. Getting 5 or more rush yards on 1st or 2nd down will make it much easier and completely open up the playbook on 2nd and 3rd down.

I can’t even imagine trying to stop this offense on 3rd and short. The entire playbook is open.

We can run the ball now.

We’re always a threat to pass.

Mahomes will have more time to throw. Someone will get open.

Everyone is covered? Mahomes will pick it up with his legs.

I love how people are talking about Brown like he’s having a bad camp when he just got beat a few times, most of which were against Chris Jones who looks like a DPOY candidate.

This place never ceases to amaze me.

His win rate last season in pass protection was almost the same as Fisher’s, but he was FAR better as a run blocker.

He’s also playing next to Thuney, who is a truly elite pass blocking guard.

He’ll be fine.

RunKC 08-06-2021 09:00 AM

Okafor is a brokedick JAG and Taco is not much better. Danna is okay but not proven as a pass rush specialist and Kaindoh is a rookie project.

Our DE is extremely lacking. I hope we add another guy via trade bc if Jones or Clark are out then this could get really ****ing ugly

It's all okay because apparently Chris Jones is an unstoppable monster that no tackle in the league can have any hope of stopping.

What kind of trade do you think is possible though? I’m not on board with any more trades for our 1st/2nd round picks. I get why we likely had to do it with Brown, but it’s not a sustainable model with the cap constraints we’ll be in most years. If there is a DE to be had for a 3rd or 4th? Sure, go for it if the opportunity presents itself.

I get your point, and I won’t be surprised if Veach picks someone up after cuts.

The OL needed the attention that it got. We can win with a so-so pass rush. Mahomes wouldn’t survive behind that Super Bowl OL.

Unfortunately, our options this offseason were fairly limited. Guys like Kerrigan or Ingram wouldn’t make us feel any better than Okafor does.

You have to think that Veach must feel pretty comfortable with where we are though. He isn’t one to be passive with our needs.

It will be interesting to see how Boogie Basham looks for Buffalo though. We took Bolton a pick or two ahead of him. That’s a comparison to watch.

O.city 08-06-2021 09:09 AM

Houston, Okafor, Kerrigan were all out there.

They must not be too concerned about it

Everson Griffen

He had the same sack production as Clark last year and would be dirt cheap.

I'm guessing why they went with Okafor is because he's more of a scheme fit.

Hopefully an Emmanuel Ogbah trade. At this point I’d like a young vet like him with upside

He'd have to agree to it bc of the no-trade clause, but that would be a win...

So tough to watch training camp reps. Looks like a glorified walkthrough as defenders aren't even trying. I get that it reduces injuries, probably by a lot. But it makes it pretty difficult to take much away from watching it.

Today is a light day.

Most practices are not like that.

More screens this year with Brown at LT --- this is going to be something we see a lot of I think.

Whats the deal with Thornhill? Why isn't he running with the 1's?

Hey, that's not too bad considering he rode in the back of the cart

He has the same role he had last year.

Spags clearly loves Dirty Dan who plays close to 100% of the snaps along with Mathieu.

Thornhill will probably play 70% like he did towards the end of the year.

I'd guess with the investment in LB'er though they won't go with having Dan down there as much, hopefully?

Maybe have Mathieu play more of a robber type role.
