Late to the show here.
Watching this:
1) They clearly wanted Alex from day one. They identified him as their guy and (got ****ed) managed to get him.
2) I'm somewhere near the 5 minute mark and Phat Andy has been asked two questions and he already sounds out of wind. He either always sounds like that or he'll have no ability in the 4th quarter to chew out his struggling QB.
This worries me.
3)"I'm not going to try to do too much, I'll stay within myself, and I'll try to win games."
Eh.....fahk...Not the speech I expect from a guy with his football IQ. Not what I want to hear from our "New QB for many years in the future."
4)"Chase pushed Drew every day he was there. He provided competiton. And that allwed Drew to be better than he could have been. "
Andy, that's just ****ing stupid. It's one thing to try and justify a signing but...really...just....don't let me hear a zipper and then say it's a prostate exam.
5)12:15 minute mark my wife (watching over my shoulder) points out that "He's hot. I hope you keep him. I mean, he's got really big ears but I like guys with big ears."
:doh!:
6) Question: "John, how difficult was it to part with that 2nd round pick."
Dorsey: "That's one thing we really don't talk about is compensation or how we go about a trade. I've never really talked about that. I don't think that's a good policy to set."
Ok, first question I love the answer to. You can tell we didn't get him for what we wanted but immediately he knows to clamp down.
7)At 14:23 the wife says "He's got ears like the guys from those Ring movies. Not that he's not sexy (which I found odd. Like she expected me to find him sexy) but he looks like that guy from Star Wars."
She means Star Trek. She's right.
He's got Spock ears...
8) Listening to the rest the guy (Alex) comes off as being very intelligent and very dedicated to the game. Odds are True-Fans will fall in love immediately. Unlike Girlbac or Bono he does have the personality and brains to be a legit franchise guy. I do think the team will buy in. I do think they'll like this guy and when he blows chunks they'll elevate their game.
I think he's too smart for his own good and when pressed takes safe over big play. I think we signed the perfect Marty QB 20 years too late...
