Oh and if you look on down at his previous contract, Hootie, you will see that they crossed out all the numbers to this upcoming season.

What contract are they using for this year? He's not under contract right now?

Hootie 08-03-2015 06:31 PM

Dude I have already broken this down 2000 ****ing times LMAO

Seriously. The only way this deal is $31.7M guaranteed is if the Hawks cut Russell immediately after this season.

Let's try and think of how Russell might get cut after this season:

#1: He rapes a small child.

Welp, that's the list!

This is the funniest thing I've ever argued in my life.

Russell Wilson is guaranteed $31.7M to play for the Seahawks in 2015. It's simply not debatable.

He is guaranteed nothing beyond that. However, if he's on the Hawks on the 5th day of the new league year in 2016, he is guaranteed another $12.5M.

So, if you want to say that Russell Wilson signed a contract for $31.7M, you have to say that he agreed to a brand new deal that was a 1 year, $31.7M contract.

Because the only way he ONLY makes $31.7M is if he is cut before the 2016 season.

This isn't debatable. This is fact.

“New money” has become one of the great fictions in the assessment of NFL contracts. But, you know, when in Rome.

For Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, the headline is that he signed a four-year, $87.6 million extension, with a new-money average of $21.9 million. The truth is that the last year of his current contract, at a base salary of $1.542 million, has been ripped up and replaced with a new five-year, $89.1 million deal.

But since the average of the total five-year deal is $17.8 million, it won’t be characterized that way when it comes to deciding whose is bigger.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...gin-to-emerge/

It's all there .

I didn't even look at the words written until Hootie pointed out that Wilson isn't under contract this year apparently... They crossed out this year on his last contract and (which the salary changed) then said he signed a 4 year contract that runs through 2019 which is 5 seasons from now.

It doesn't add up...

It's hilarious. Seriously.

But Hootie and his minions will come along shortly to tell us that we're all too stupid to understand.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks won't even cut the $20 million dollar check until August 10th.

Hootie 08-03-2015 06:44 PM

Clearly when I predicted 5/110/80 I was factoring in his last year on his rookie deal!

I definitely thought he'd be getting a 4 year, 108.5M dollar extension with $80M guaranteed. Duh. $27.25M a year in new money.

Just LMAO

You guys are so ****ing stupid

Hootie 08-03-2015 06:48 PM

Dane, answer 1 question for me. Just 1. All I want is a dollar amount. Nothing more, nothing less.

If Seattle cuts Russell Wilson after the 2015 season for non injury related performance issues, how much money will they have to pay him for 2015?

Answer that for me.

Lmao lmao lmao

The amount of money and the check date is utterly meaningless. Russell Wilson signed for $31M in SIGNING bonus. That's all guaranteed. When they pay it is meaningless. If that cut him tomorrow, he gets $31 million dollars.

You're arguing fact. It's pathetically hilarious

Hootie 08-03-2015 06:53 PM

Dane, call your sports agent buddy and ask him. I know you have one, you told us all yesterday !!!

Obviously you didn't think that at all.

But you weren't even close on the guaranteed money either.

Even of it was 60. There is a ****ing huge gap from 60-80 million, I know you probably don't understand numbers that big and are thinking of it in 60-80 dollar terms. 20 million is a lot of ****ing money

It is meaningless. Except that you said he was receiving all $31 million this year, which is clearly not the case.

And why are you ignoring the links I provided by both Mike Florio and Jason LaCanfora, that dispute almost everything you've claimed?

He hits free agency a year earlier than my suggested extension. So unless you think Russell will be out of the NFL after 2019 then yes, that $20M is meaningless. He'll get a new extension with Seattle after 2017. It'll be massive. This is nothing more than a 3 year deal most likely.
